Short Menstral Bleeding and Getting Pregnant

Has anyone out there experience having short menstral bleeding that only last maybe a day or 2 with light to medium flow and not have a problem getting pregnant or carrying to full term?  Basically, that's one of my issues.  I have a short cycle between 21-26 days and when it does come, it only last a day or sometimes, a day and 1/2 and its done.  I've seen a Doctor for it but both doctors seems to think its ok just as long as I still get my period every month.  I have been ttc for 1 year now with no luck and I have a feeling my short period has something to do with not being able to get pregnant.  Can anyone shed some light. Thanks.

Yes, my LP has been short.  That's probably the reason why I'm having a hard time conceiving.  Hopefully my doctor will realize that soon but thank you ladies for your advise cause they help.

I have short periods in duration and long cycles....it's not the problem for me! I do think though that if you 'feel' something is wrong that no one's 'getting' - keep looking for answers!

I had that feeling and I did keep looking!  I found that I had subclinical hypothyroidism and low estrogen!  Now, I am hoping to get BFP any month now!

But the above posters are right - a short LP is a problem, but not short menses or cycles!

Good luck!

I have very light periods but that was not a problem.  My cycles were 28 days on average though.  If you are worried, clomid made my cycles longer (it extended my LP) and AF MUCH heavier.  Short cycles are not a problem unless your LP is less than 12 days.

Good luck to you!

Hi. Thank you for your responses.  I'm actually charting my bbt and so far, fertilityfriend.com has predicted my ovulation occuring between cd13-16 so its not really that early.  Which worries me because that means my lutheal phase is short.  Yeah, my gyn also said that just as long as I get my period monthly is ok but I still think something is wrong with this and is affecting my ttc.  (:-(

hi! I've been pg once (m/c) and I have 36hour periods and my cycles are 24-26 days. My RE says this is not a factor when ttc... Good luck to you!

I don't have an answer but I,too have short, light periods, usually a couple of days or so, and a regular 28 day cycle.  I've been TTC for 7 months or so.  The only research I have turned up suggests that short periods may cause ovulation earlier than others with a longer period.  Just thought I would share that with you.  Hopefully we'll get some feedback from others as well who can shed some insight into short periods and what that means exactly relative to TTC.    BTW, you said asked about carrying to full term and as a matter of fact all of my 3 children were preemies, 34-36 weeks but never determined what caused this.
