I had my first u/s done after my second cycle of 50mgs of Clomid CD5-9 and my dr said I have 2 follies one on each side 20.8mm and 22mm. He said these are good ones and he gave me an HCG shot. My questions....is it normal to only have 2 follies? Are my chances good that I will get pregnant? And did anyone have s.e. from the shot? I have pain where he gave me the shot and felt tired, had a headache, and my stomach was upset. Has anyone else experienced this after this shot?
Yes it is normal to have to large follies, that is usually how many I have each month. This month I had 4 but I think that was do to an increased precription dosage. I do get a headache from the HCG shot every time I take it too. Good luck to you, I hope this is your month!!
2 mature follies on 50 mgs of Clomid is very good. are you having an IUI? My RE would not do an IUI if I had more than 3 follies (that only almost happened when I used injectibles) so 2 is perfect. I did not have any s.e. from the hcg shot - but I was also so nervous about the IUI, I might not have realized it if I did. did your RE give you a probability of success? My RE told me that considering my age, reason (unexplained), etc. that my success rate was about 15%. (He figured without the Clomid+IUI that my chance of success was ~5% - so my rate tripled.) Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback ladies!!! I am not doing IUI. And he didnt really give me numbers on my success rate. So none of you had injection site pain? Good luck to you ladies.
to get pregnant! As far as the injection goes - I had to give myself a trigger shot of Ovidrel - so I didn't have injection site pain - it depends on the shot too I think
I am not sure the exact name for the HCG shot...wish I would have asked. But they did give it to me in the BUTT (ouch). I wonder if that makes a diff too, I see alot of posts where women are getting them in the stomach. I am feeling better today but again my butt still hurts.... :(
I bet you got a novarel injection, instead of ovidrel (both are HCG triggers). The novarel makes the injection site sore for a few days after...while the ovidrel does not. That's my experience anyway :-)
As for the tummy vs. butt issue, ovidrel is usually given in the tummy, while novarel can be given either way. I only used novarel once and I injected it in my tummy...but it was still very sore after.
