I had two 5day embryos transferred on 1/27. My first beta HCG level on 2/6 was 430. The next level on 2/8 was 1193. My HCG level yesterday (2/11) was 7774. Even though I know I should stay away from so much research (because it can be depressing and/or scary sometimes), I can't help but go to the web when I have new developments. I know such a high number doesn't necessarily mean multiples but research shows that there is a good possibility. I go for a vaginal ultrasound in the morning and I am praying they can give me some insight. Anybody been in this predicament before?
Would multiples be a predicament? Two embryos can produce one baby, two babies or even three or four babies, if they split. (I hope they haven't, though, because after 5 days is pretty late for a split.) Anyway, the rapid rise might indicate that they both took, sure. It might also indicate a really healthy singleton. Hope you get the answer your want tomorrow. :)
hcg measurements come in 2 different forms qualitative and quantitative. The quantitative level is important for the first couple of blood test. Ask your doctor for the numbers of both, if both are being tested.
I have my first pregnancy blood test a week tomorrow, as with everyone else the wait will drive us nuts! I keep waiting for a sign lol...morning sickness, something. I have been having the cramping, especially today so I'm looking at that as a good sign :) Had my transfer on the 10th - 1 perfect at day 5 the second wasn't going to be ready until the day after transfer but we're praying for the catch up. We have our mind set on twins ;)
That was pretty much the case for me too msdierxs. No real symptoms other than mild cramping. But I could wait on the blood test. I cheated. LOL Good look!!!!!!!
Good news!!!! According to the ultrasound tech, there are two sacs. I go back next week to listen to the heart beats. I prayed at the beginning of the process and told God that I would accept however many he blessed us with. But if I hear four heart beats, excluding my own, I am going to pass out right there on the table. LOL
Congrats!!! Best of luck!! Keep us posted on those heart beats!
Was this your first IVF?
I had my first IVF, egg transfer of 2 embryos (5day old) on 1/29, all looked god and even saw the little sac this morning, but then the call with my blood work result came and burst my bobble. Beta HCG went down from 257 (on Monday) to 148 today. I will experience miscarriage in the next few days, so the nurse says.
Congrats!!! Best of luck!! Keep us posted on those heart beats!

It is the most awesome thing to see and hear those 2 precious hearbeats :). I am beyond excited for you :). Wednesday will be here before you know it!!!!
Hi Emilia105. Yes this is my first IVF. I am heartbroken to hear about your drop in the Beta HCG. I am speechless but I pray the nurse is wrong this time.
@mhv: Thanks so much!!! Seems like it is taking forever for Wednesday to roll around. :)
Oooh my, I said the same thing. My hcg levels are so high and I think my one egg may have split. I'll find out on Friday when I have my first ultrasound.
I went to the doctor this morning and heard the heartbeats. It is confirmed, there are two heardbeats. Yaaayyyy!!!! And they are strong heartbeats. I was told I was right at six weeks. We are estatic. The only downside was my husband had to cover for one of his employees being off work and couldn't make it. BUT... I captured it on video so I know he will be all snotty nosed and teary eyed when he sees it tonight. LOL
And good luck to you on Friday miky1537.
