So confused!

So confused!

Hello ladies. I am so confused!  We went and met with the dr's for IVF today. It was a lot of information to absorb, but I've done my homework and research to know about a lot of things they were talking about, which was good. Our first appointment was the financial department. I had called my insurance and the person I had talked to said that IVF was covered. I had a life time max and that covered everything with the exception of using a donor.  Well, today we were told that IVF is not covered under my insurance. She said that she was going to call them back and see what is going on. So I called the insurance after our appointment. Now they are telling me that I do have a max, but it doesn't not cover IVF.  They said everything leading up to that would be covered, but not after the transfer. So I asked them then if everything was covered up until the transfer, they said yes and then they went back and said no. They said that if we did IUI along with injectibles, that would be covered.  I really hope the financial department calls me back because I am so confused right now. We were so excited going in there thinking that everything was covered and now I feel like we are back to square one. Why do insurance companies have to be so confusing???

i hear ya there! ours covers IUI, but not IVF.. and originally i was told that it did cover IVF.. we had had a TON of bad news one week and went for my IVF consult, started AF all that week too, and called the insurance company just to confirm and they said that actually they didnt' cover IVF.. i was just bawling!!!!! the poor lady on the phone felt so bad, and i felt so bad for crying, i'm really not like that, but i just lost it and couldn't hold back my sobbing! she was so sweet and checked with all of her managers and called me back , poor lady! but yea its just yet another hit in the gut when things aren't going well to have to have insurance  issues or no covereage for this stuff! ahh!! That happend to me too last year. because I was told it is almost impossible to find an insurance company that cover IVF. I asked my insurance company to mail or fax me something that said they will cover it,. They refused to do so. My doctor told me it was going to cost me $8000
I was thinking if I should really paid that much money, 3 months later God made a miracle in my life, I god pregnant with out doing anything, I was trying for 2 years.

I had search all over the internet, I called many insurance companies to see if I could find one that will cover it. I did not. I wish you good luck in this.

let us know how it went.
