Sperm extraction - must it be used in IVF, not IUI?

Sperm extraction has been recommended to my husband since it has been 13 years since his vasectomy reversal.  What we are wondering about is, once extracted, can that sperm be used in IUI - or does it have to be used in IVF?  From our research it seems that IUI will be considerably less expensive to us - IVF may actually not even be possible for us financially.  Thanks so much

My husband had a vasectomy 8 years ago and my RE told us that IVF was the only way to go since we had to do ICSI. We did it in dec and are now pregnant with twins.

Yes it can...but the chance of getting pregnant from an IUI is much lower than IVF. Plus, it also depends on how many they can extract. If the number is low, then IVF is probably the only option. If you haven't already, I would suggest setting up a consultation with an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). He or she will be able to go over all your options, as well as the costs. Best of luck!
