Spotting. Is this normal?

Is it normal to have spotting (brown color) 5 days before your expected period?  Also, is it normal to have cramping (feels like your period is coming but doesn't) 5-6 days prior to your period?

I have light spotting at the moment. Almost always, when my period comes, I have excruciatingly painful cramping the day of along with a heavy flow. I have no cramping now.. but the day before yesterday and today I had cramping that only lasted a few minutes. Any ideas? Thanks! (:

same thing happens to me too everytime my period is about to come... 1 day spotting then after 5 days the heavy period comes.....

The same thing happened to me too, and I did thought it was implantation....I had cramps on and off for 6 days before AF and started spotting (brown) on and off 2 days before, only to see AF couple days after.

Sounds like you might be having an off cycle. This same thing happened to me earlier this year. I thought my spotting (5 days prior to AF) was implantation bleeding only to be let down to get AF a few days later. I guess it could go either way beacause every womans body is differnt. I hope everything works out for you. Keep us updated.
