Spotting

Hello,

I have been ttc for 15 months now.  Every month since I have been off the pill I begin to spot around day 22.  Sometimes it lasts 1 day, some months it lasts 4 or more days.

Are there any special tests that I should go for to find the source of this problem?  I am sure that this spotting is interfering with my chances of conceiving.

So far I have had the following tests and all have come out positive:
-pelvic ultrasound
-HSG
-FSH
-thyroid testing
-semen analysis (on my husband)

My doctor seems to think that this spotting is OK, but I know that it is not normal and would like to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks kindly!

I had the same problem and my doc thought that it was OK but it really bothered me.  He could not determine the cause but one of my hormones (prolactin or smth like that) was marginally low and he thought that may be the cause.  So, finally he prescribed clomid and all spotting stopped and my luteal phase was also extended by another 3-4 days.

Thanks!  I actually just came back from the naturopath and she has given me a B6 supplement, that I see a lot of women are talking about here on this site.  I am also scheduled to go and get my progesterone levels checked on day 22 of my cycle.

Sometimes spotting several days before your period can mean low progesterone which can affect your luetal phase.  You can usually have that checked by getting a blood test right after ovulation.
