Starting IVF and have questions.

Hi.....My RE told me today that since my husbands SAcame back with a count of 6mil. and a motilty of 17% which are both low are only option is to do IVF. My question is how long does the process take starting from CD1. I should be getting AF any day now. I am going on vacation OCT23rd and hoping I could stilldo the IVF this cycle do you think there will be enough time or will I have to wait until my next cycle after vacation. Any insight would be greatful.

Your RE should give you the protocol but typically you do a month of b/c and then when you get AF you start your ivf meds.  REs differ so you should ask your dr about his protocol for you.

It depends what protocol your RE wants you to do. For me it is the Lupron protocol, it takes about 6 weeks from CD1. For me, on CD 3 (Oct 10th) I started birth control and I take that until Oct. 29th. I started injecting Lupron on CD16, yesterday. My egg retrieval wont be until the week of Oct 14th. This is pretty typical for my clinic, but it seems like some people are on a faster track. Do you know if they want to start you on birth control pills or not? That takes up almost 3 weeks alone. I guess I'm not too helpful....good luck =)

Not sure if I will have to do the birth control thing. How does birth control pills help???I'm so confused.

B/c suppresses your system since you are not supposed to O before retrieval.

This is my second IVF cycle.. I am on the same protocol as murd0ck. But I started Lupron 19th.
