Starting from the beginning....Help!

Hi there, I am TCC for the first time and I am getting the impression from my doctor that it may not be possible through regular methods. My situtation: I have irregular periods (ie: i will have a period every 6-9 months and it will last like 3-4 days). I was told to get my thyroid checked. So while waiting on the appt I began reading up on that topic...I see that I have some of the symptoms but after the appt I find out that I dont have hyperthyrodism.

So my questions is this....Has anyone ever been in a situation like this? Can you get pregnant without having a monthly cycle? If it comes to taking meds to help with conceiving then What meds are normally used? and How are they used?

Try fertility blend before you try fertility drugs.

First try to find out whether you are ovulating or not, dr should be able to test hormones when on your cycle.  You may ovulate, but irregularly, thus the irregular period.  You can get pregnant if ovulating, just may take awhile since it will be difficult for you to determine when you are ovulating (and thus your best time to ttc).

Some people are put on birth control pills for awhile to regulate their cycle, i.e., estrogen and progesterone.  I'm not sure what else could be used to do that.  If you are not ovulating, you may need Clomid.  I wouldn't worry about that yet though, just see what your dr recommends to help with your cycle.

Are your irregular cycles related to age or have they always been that way?  If age related, your dr. may have other concerns.

ok first of all, I had very irregular cycles, they thought menopause due to my age.. 39 years old. everything checked perfect. I have what they call hypothalmic ammenorhea, my hypothalmus in the brain does not send trigger to induce ovulation or menses, I was put on prgesterone to bring on period, then I started, gonal F injections. now.. depending on  your age and problem and if your not ovulating, they may start you on a drug called clomid,. which will help you ovulate..
