I just started my first round with Menopur after 3 cycles on clomid+iui.
My first u/s went well and I have another one coming up on Friday.
I'm hoping to have IUI next week.
Any success stories/experiences w/the same protocol?
I had three rounds of Clomid with IUI and no success... One round of Menopur with and IUI on Aug 24 and got a BFP on Sept 7th. It worked for me!!!
Good luck and please let me know how it goes!
Thanks for the reply. That is awesome news to hear! Congratulations, I'm so happy for u:)
We seem to have gone thru the same treatment in the past. I hope I can follow in your footsteps:)
Can I ask why you were doing treatments? For me, my prolaction was slightly elevated resulting in irregular long cycles.
Hi Everyone. I had my first round of IUI with menopur on September 20th & 21st. Since then, my body has gone through so many changes. Now I'm using the progesterone suppositories & I'm starting to experience spotting
Good luck!!! I hope you have great news. It can be very stressful waiting for answers...
I am on my second attempt of Menopur with IUI. First one was in March and was cancelled on day 7 due to septate uterus and cysts on my fallopian tubes (all of which have been corrected with lapro/hysto surgery in June). We waited 2 cyces (which for me is 55+ days each and needing Provera to get AF). Went to start a new Menopur cycle in August and had 4mm ovarian
cyst, so we were cancelled before we even began. Got the progesterone in oil shot (in hopes of avoiding more cysts) this time to get AF after 45 days and FINALLY got the green light, even with elevated E2 (98.2). Currently on day CD8 and Day 5 of Menopur... Keeping my fingers
holmesie07- looks like we are testing on the same day:) I haven't spotted and no signs of AF just yet. I felt a some cramps here in there, but nothing out of the ordinary. Hope we can both have the news of our lives tomorrow:) Keep me posted.
melonann- i'm sorry your cycle has been delayed up and until now. i also had 1 delayed cycle bc of a cyst. hang in there and stay positive. wishing you luck on wed:)
So I went in first thing this morning for my bloodwork for pg testing and progesterone level check. I should hear something by this afternoon....but sheesh!!!! The suspense has me on edge and a nervous wreck. I will definitely keep you posted and best of luck to you all as well!
This is all new to me. I didn't think I would feel so disappointed if my results were a BFN, but I guess I was wrong. Well, I'm still keeping my hopes up for you :) Keep us posted.
This was your 1st IUI? Have you done any other treatment before. The feeling of disappointment unfortunately gets worst every time. The only difference is how we cope. This is my 4th IUI and I honestly thought it should have worked by now. Patience is truly a virtue and I have been trying to learn it.... I know our time will come soon. Just keep faith alive and keep trying:)
Yes, this was my first IUI. It took me a while to convince the hubby to go this route, and once he was on board, we were ok. Yes, I've tried other treatment, but none were successful. I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard. I really want to try again, but I have to get him on board for round 2 first. Regarding your experiences, I've heard that some RE's recommend IVF after the fourth cycle because they believe success can happen in 4 or less tries. Have you considered the next step? I'm so sad that we both had BFN's yesterday. My day was completely turned around after the news. I never thought I would feel like that and still do :( Well, I'm going to attempt to keep trying and you do the same. Thanks for listening and responding and the encouragement. Oh...one more thing....Have you tried Bravelle? The doctor says if I decide to do a second round, they want to switch me to Bravelle. Do you know anything about the meds?
I could understand your husband's hesitations. My hubby also did not want to do the IUI's just yet and just try meds with timed intercourse (which our RE recommended since we only have late ovulation troubles). I told him IUI will up our chances slightly higher, so he finally gave in. I hope you can get your husband on board again so you can start a new cycle.
I have heard that if a treatment will work, it should happen within 3-6 cycles. We gave clomid/IUI/trigger 3 cycles. Not sure how many cycles we should give menopur. It will definitely something i will ask my RE tomorrow at my appointment.
The difference between the two is that menopur has both FSH and LH, while bravelle is FSH only. The LH is supposed to help mature the eggs while the FSH makes more eggs. Did you doctor say why he wants to switch you? I would like to know also.
I totally feel your pain, yesterday I was an emotional wreck. It was really hard to get out of that funk. I wish I could say it gets easier, but it's actually the opposite:( I would say tho that joining this forum has helped me channel some of my frustrations. Please dont hesitate to reach out for anything:) we will help each other thru this! in time i know we can both celebrate our BFP's together....... what a nice thought!
esmie1012 and Holmesie07... I'm so sorry for your BFN... This is total crap, to put it bluntly (if I knew how to put a frown face here, I would, lol).
It can be so emotionally draining to go through this process and it is definately only for the thick skinned. The way I look at it, I'm really lucky that wI have IUI/IVF as an option. That's what I keep thinking of when I get frustrated, is that many people can't afford to even go this route, or at least not in NH. They don't really pay for anything except the diagnostics...
I'm sure it will work out for you in the very near future and I'm so sorry it wasn't this cycle. Keep your head up and I look forward to hearing how things go.
Holmesie07 - Best of luck getting your husband on board. I'm sure you'll have success!
As for me, CD9 today with u/s and bloodwork. Still haven't heard back... Supposedly have 10+ follies on each side, but none over 11mm. It's a bit nerve racking that the u/s nurse was commenting that I have a septated uterus, considering I underwent surgery to get it removed in June! Waiting to hear about my bloodwork to see if my hormone levels are balancing out. Crossing my fingers that we can continue on Menopur for a full cycle!
Thanks for the kind words of support. With each cycle, it truly is a roller coaster ride!
When do you go back for another u/s? From what I understand is the follies grow 1-2mm a day, so I'm hoping they will grow nice and big for you. Can I ask what a septated uterus is? Hope you hear good news regarding your blood work:)
Thanks for the wishes... 1-2mm a day huh? That would be great! Good info, thanks. Well my E2 level went down from day 2 at 98.2 (which is high) to day 9 at 78 (which is more in line where it should be on day 2 - ugh. They are doing b/w again on Saturday to see if E2 went up, which I'm confident it will. Then who knows what's next, lol. The rollercoaster ride goes on...
As for the septate uterus, it means it had a divider in the middle of my uterus, kind of like the septum in your nose. They go in lapro/hysto and snip the septum, then build up the lining of your uterus for a couple of months, then you should be all set. Fortunately mine was on the smaller side, so it was a bit easier. If it was left there, there is a 90% miscarriage rate as the egg normally implants on the septum then dies, or if it implants elsewhere the embryo runs out of room. It was kind of a no brainer for me to have it taken out even though it delayed us by 3 very long cycles.
I'm feeling positive and hopeful for Saturday's results and for this cycle and wish you the best.
Are you starting a new cycle? I hope your husband agrees with your wishes for another cycle. I'm sure he'll come around - afterall only strong women can go through being a human pin cushion so I'm sure you give up without a good fight ☺
Thank you for explaining the septate uterus. I'm glad you have gotten this taken care of, as I would opt to fix it as well. It is amazing what our bodies go thru and really who would have ever thought! I'm crossing my fingers for you that your E2 level will be where it needs to be. Just keep up the positive thoughts and I will be praying for you too:)
I had my scan today and got the green light to start a new cycle. They are upping my menopur dose to 150 mg for 2 days/ 75 mg for 2 more days and another scan on Monday. Now I just have to try really hard to relax and let my body do the rest. Easier said than done=P
I pray that all is well and that you are in the best of spirits. I've been gone for a few days just trying to deal with my emotions. Wow....I had no idea what type of roller coaster of emotions this process would be. Thanks to all who have kept me in their thoughts and prayers as that is greatly appreciated. Finally got the hubby to agree to continue with another cycle but we have to wait on mother nature to take her place. So, while we wait, I'm trying to remain positive and hopeful that this journey will come to an end and we'll be able to move forward with the next phase of thes cycles. Well wishes to you all in your journeys! Have a great day!
Update - ok, so whenever I come onto these sites I always wonder the outcome for people... As of now, I am 11dpiui, 13 dp 10,000 Pregnyl trigger. I caved - I tried to wait 14 days and couldn't make it. Last night I made a trip to the dollar store and bought a bunch of tests... I took one last night and nothing. This morning, might as well have been nothing, I'm pretty sure my mind was playing tricks on me, that's how faint it was. Then at lunch today I had to know so I bought a FRER test and took it at Walmart - yup, Walmart (I have had more proud moments)... BUT it was a BFP!!!!!!!!!
I can't even believe it. So now I, being a sceptic due to the HCG shot, called the pharmacy yesterday and they insisted it would be out of my system in 7 days. I called the fertility pharmacy nurse today and she said after 10 days it was definately out and that my result had to be accurate (I'm at 13 days post trigger)! I'm excited, but scared to believe it at the same time... After 26 LONG months of trials and tribulations I think our time might be here. Hopefully tomorrow the line will be darker, and then I'll feel better.... I feel like I have had a ton of symptoms (even a wierd taste in my mouth) but now a test with my first ever BFP! Let's pray it sticks...
Hoping you girls are having the same success and that this cycle is going better for you!
Wow that's awesome news!!! Hurray:) Thank you for sharing your good news! I am so happy for you that your time has finally come so to say. I am sure you have a true BFP as well. During my 1st IUI, I was testing daily to test how long the 10,000 units of HCG stayed in my system. For me it lingered around for 11 days, so if the + line is getting darker that only means ur preggo:) Congratulations again, I know how much you have waited for the news of ur life.... ENJOY IT!!
As for me, I'm currently 9DPIUI and my test day is 5 days away. I'm really tempted to test early but my hubby forbade me to do so! Bummer:( But it's only bc in the past the negative results always put me in a bad funk. I'm also on progesterone suppositories which I think is giving me sore bb's and diarrhea (sorry tmi=P) Btw, did you do anything different this cycle and so far what are your symptoms?
Thank you! I took another one this morning and it was the same, maybe slightly darker... Praying it is the real thing. I totally fessed up to my RE nurse and asked to come in for bloodwork. Although I will only be at 13 days tomorrow, she is letting me come in, for peace of mind... I really don't belive it yet.
She is having me come in again on Monday to test levels to make sure they are where they need to be - fingers crossed! My husband and I havent' said a word to anyone so this is killing me!
9DPIUI - that's great! How are you feeling? What are your instincts? I think it is smart for your hubby to make you wait - we both tried, but failed, lol. My bb's have been super sore, bigger (like, overflowing my bra - excellent) and heavy, like I can't even sleep on them sore (and I am a stomach sleeper). I have been very tired, more hungry than normal, I have "seen stars" several times, which is wierd for me, and I have had a wierd taste in my mouth. Also, I have felt kind of a tugging feeling in my abdomen, but mostly on the sides, which seems wierd to me. I also feel bloated - yuck. I'm just waiting for someone to ask me if I have gained weight, lol. I'm so happy you're already on 9DPIUI and I can't wait to hear your news in 5 days! Praying for you... Please keep me posted!
Did you test last time at 11 days past trigger or past IUI? Just curious - I really don't believe this could be it for us...
I'm glad your nurse is allowing you to go test early. You definitely need peace of mind:)
It was 11 days past trigger and 9 days past IUI when the trigger was out of my system. I think most ladies on here say the norm is 10-12 days past trigger. So I think you have a true BFP! Your symptoms are also great indicators of what's cookin! When did you start having symptoms? I've been having crazy weird dreams lately and my sleep is broken, waking up every 2 hours or so... but again it could be attributed to the progesterone sup. So this has been pure torture not knowing=P I'm still hopeful, so please keep your fingers crossed for me:)
Let me know how your count goes too. Sending you lots of sticky baby dust!
I did Clomid only in Sept. dr. started me at 100mg and no luck... I have PCOS, irregular periods and don't Ouvlate. In June I had surgery to remove polyps. I have an 18 year old daughter.
In Oct. days 5-9 I took Clomid 150mg and after that I took bravelle and menopur started at 75 and ended up at 225... I had lots of follicles. On 10/17/10 I had like 4 or 6 on each side, from 19, 17, 16, 15 and that day I had to give my self the trigger shot. On 10/19/10 I had my 1st IUI and 2 days later I started cramping and with pain and peeing badly.
On 10/26/10 I had blood work done and my progesterone was low at 6 and estriol was at 266. & I was doing the progesterone suppository and now I am doing the oil shot. On 11/2/10 is my pregnancy test.
Is there still a change I can get or am preggo with that low progesterone??
Thanks and lots of prayers for all of us....
Lots of Baby Dust to all!!!!!
Looks like we are both on menopur and test days are 1 day apart:) I started off with 75 last cycle and moved up to 150 this cycle. I had one leader egg and 3 smaller ones. That's awesome you had a lot of follies!
I've only tested for day 21 progesterone during my initial stages of testing and I believe I had a 12.5 without meds. I know my sister's progesterone level was only 10 during her positive beta and she was on a medicated cycle. So I think everyone is different and it is good that you are on progesterone sup. for additional help. I'm also taking progesterone, which I attribute most of my "symptoms" from.
I found this website helpful when trying to figure out lab results:
No worries:)
SSBD stands for "sending some baby dust." So many abbreviations I still don't know, but try to guess as I go.
I know what you mean about the symptoms. The only thing I have is the sore boobs that's not usual for me, but this is also my first time on progesterone. My sister had no pregnancy symptoms for both her pregnancies, so I'm hoping that maybe the case:)
I'm also afraid to test early. My blood test is on Monday and I'm debating if I should take a HPT on Sunday. My husband doesn't want to test early, so not sure:(
Oh man tell me about it IDK what to do either... LOL....
I want to soo bad, mine test is on Tuesday...
My DH says/thinks that I am pregnant already... I told him he was crazy!!
:-)
Hello everyone! Well, today is the start of my second IUI cycle and I'm excited about it. I believe that maintaining a positive attitude throughout this process is key. Well, wish me luck ;-)
I got a BFN, but moving unto next round:)
I'm happy you are able to start ur second IUI. Will you continue with menopur? My re suggests to keep me on it as I responded well the past 2 rounds. I'm hoping that 3rd time will be the charm, but if not we will try one more time.
I'm so sorry to hear of your BFN.....be encouraged. I'm keeping you guys in prayer as I'm believing that it will happen for all of us.
To Esmie, yes my RE is keeping me on the menopur but he increased the dosage since I did respond well. I learned yesterday that one of my tubes is partially collapsed and not functioning at full capability. But I am remaining positive. I will keep you posted.
Thank you my dear. I will pray that this cycle will give you ur BFP. Sorry to hear about your partially collapsed tube. How did they find this out? I'm also on menopur starting this Sat and upped the dose. I'm hoping we will all share good news soon.
They discovered there was a potential problem with the tube after my HSG was done, but they couldn't confirm until the first cycle was complete. But I'm kind of relieved, as now I know what's actually going on instead of being diagnosed as "unexplained infertility". Looks like our cycles are just a few days apart, so prayerfully we will both share our good news around the same time. Tomorrow is day 3 on the new dosage of menopur. Hopefully my US and bloodwork tomorrow will show that I'm responding well this time around like the first cycle.
It is a sigh of relief to know what exactly what is wrong. I wished I knew, but seems like everything is working fine according to all my tests. It's really a battle with timing I think. I start my shots tomorrow and really dont look forward to being a pin cushion=P How are you doing on them? What did they check for on your b/w? I usually just get u/s, guess everyone has a different protocol seems like. I go back on Wed for another u/s.
When do you expect to do IUI? I'm really rooting for us this cycle. I would just be heaven to get preggers in time for the holidays:)
SSBD!
Hey Ladies, how have you been?? Just came by to say Hi as well.....
I still haven't gotten my AF..... IDK where it went ((L0L))..... Or if I should be worried..... Also I'm stuck I cannot go see my RE until I get my AF.....
Hello Esmie. You are right, it is a sigh of relief to actually have a clear picture of what the issue is. I started my injections of 150 IU of Menopur on Nov 3rd. I'm really keeping my fingers and toes crossed for us this cycle. But, we have are aleardy thinking of our next move if this cycle is unsuccessful. When I went for bw the other day, they were checking my E2 level(estrogen) and my results were good so I was glad about that. I went in yesterday for bw and US and everything was looking good. Next visit is Thursday for bw and US. Prayerfully, if all goes well, we should be doing IUI by Saturday.
I'm so glad to hear your bw and u/s are as expected. I will also be crossing my fingers, toes and eyes that all goes well with your IUI. How are the injections been for you this time.
I started menopur on Nov. 6th, so I'm not too far away from you:) So far I've been so tired and hard to wake up in the mornings. I'm thinking this is due to the increased dosage. I have my u/s tomorrow and I'm hoping that I'm lining will look good.
Cleto- how are you doing? did you meet with your RE for your next plan yet?
It's funny you should mention that your finding it hard to wake up in the morings. I have been feeling the same way. Not sure if it's due to the increased dosage or the time change. LOL! What I have definitely noticed is the level of discomfort I'm having with the injections. The first cycle, they didn't bother me. No pain what so ever. This time around, they kind of hurt :-( And I have no idea why. But I'm a trooper and I remember what all of this is for, so I just tough it out and do what I need to do. Our cycles are so close to one another. I'm praying we both have some good news during the holidays :-)
I wondered if it could also be from the time change or the cold weather. The shots really burn going in, the only part that kicks my butt. But like you said, we have to remember that it's all worth it. "No pain, no gain."
I just got back from my u/s and looks like I have 1 leader egg almost ready at 16mm. I have my IUI scheduled this Sat, so it really looks like we are on the same schedule. I'm really hoping we both get the news of our lives as we celebrate Thanksgiving. What a better way to celebrate:) Let's hope and pray!
Hope your u/s goes well tomorrow.
Well everything looks good! I responded really well to the increased dosage and tonight I'll being doing the hcg shot. I have ICI scheduled for tomorrow morning and IUI scheduled for Saturday morning. Wow! We are on extremely close schedules. Wishing you all the best! Keep me in your prayers....
Thank for the explanation. Is that something your doctor suggested to do in addition? I'm just wondering bc my doc never mentioned it before:) And how did that go?
I'm feeling okay. After I did the HCG shot last night I felt my left ovary pulsing maybe 30 minutes after. I've never felt that before, but it was a feeling of comfort to know that the medicine is working:) How about you?
This is there normal process. This is my second cycle with this doctor and we did the first cycle the same way. The 2 procedures are almost identical. Best wishes with your IUI. I've been feeling very bloated since I took my HCG. hopefully that's a good sign. Keep me posted..
Hi... Yes my AF finally came on 11/7/10 like 5 days after my BFN... I was so worried cuz it took forever to get here.....
I went to see my RE on 11/9/10 & I had like 15 follicles on each ovary & he started me on 200mg of clomid for 5 days & today 11/14/10 I started 75 follusim pen & go back on 11/16/10 for my u/s... So please wish me luck.....
Lots of Prayers for Everyone..... Lots of Baby Dust to All.....
Glad to hear your IUI went smooth as did mine. Keeping my fingers crossed for us this cycle. As for the sore bbs...I'm with you on that. They are so sensitive to touch it's unreal. I'm feeling ok with the exception of this pressure & bloating I've been having. Almost to the point where I'm doubled over. How are you?
Cleto...glad AF showed up. Wishing you lots of luck this time around.
Good Morning... I went to my u/s today and I have lots of follicles like 30 but they are to small... They saw a big one 13 but they don't know if its that cuz it was like oval instead of being round like a circle....
I pray to God that's the one... Do you ladies think that can be a follicle??
hi there. 13 sounds like a good size to start off with. I'm not too informed about what shape the follie should be. When do you go back for another u/s?
I went in today for my 3rd u/s and my follice only went up one :-( to size 14 and its more shape like a banana they think it might be a cyst wtih water or something like that, I am so tried IDK what else to do.... They also did blood work and my blood work was at 126 not too low nor not to high either.... Now I go back on Saturday for my 4th u/s.... & we have no insurance so everything is out of our pocket and so super expensive..... I cried so hard today, I guess of sadness...
Thanks for your Hugs :-) I really needed it..... I have to go thru all this alone & with you all ladies, my brothers & sisters & none of my other family know.... Yeah I hope it's a follice and not what they think.....
IDK what else to do cuz my follices don't want to grow fast..... Last month I was on shots for about 15 days & ended taking 225 of folluisim, pus the 150mg of clomid for 5 days.... I do have lots of follices they said like 30 on each side..... But RE said since I have PCOS it's a little more harder for me.....
Hello! Went to the doctors today to start cycle #3. RE increased my Clomid to 150mg (from 100mg) and continue Menopur injection (to be done mar 7th), appt on the 10th, then HCG trigger shot, & finally IUI. If I get a BFN then I'm doing IVF. I have severe endo as well. Wondering if any of you who have severe endo and have had these meds/procedures have had any BFP =)
