Surgery went OK I guess

Surgery went OK I guess

Well I had my lap, hysteroscopy, and ovarian drilling done on Wednesday.  I'm still pretty sore and a little concerned cuz I'm still spotting - so I'm still trying to take it easy, but overall I'm feeling a little better.

As far as the results go, there was good news, and as there always is with me, the inevitable bad news as well.  The good news is there was no more scar tissue inside the uterus - which is part of the reason we paid out of pocket for all of this because this guy would know what to do if he found any.  The ovarian drilling also went well.  The bad news is that they found on the back side of my uterus he said over a hundred different spots of what is a 50% chance scar tissue and 50% chance endometriosis.  They could not remove it because there was so much of it.  This was a little upsetting since I just had my last lap to remove endo only 8 months ago.  They biopsied it and I will know which it is in two weeks at my post op.  It doesn't really matter that much though - both cause pain, both can spread (although the endo could certain spread further and quicker I'd imagine) - and regardless, they left it in there.  This was extremely upsetting to hear as I was waking up from surgery, because I was looking forward to getting some pain relief.  I would practically put money on the stuff they found being scar tissue - and I would also bet that it's because the nimrod that I let do my last surgery probably scraped me up really good.  I know that it was in the back of my uterus where he removed endo last time, so it would make sense.  I'm not happy about all of this.

I just hope the ovarian drilling works and makes me ovulate so that the whole surgery that we paid out of pocket for isn't a complete bust.  Mostly I'm upset that I'm not going to get any pain relief from it all.  I know this doctor said my pain was probably from my adenomyosis and not my endo, but he also didn't know he was going to find over a hundred spots of either endo or adhesions on the back of my uterus.  bummer...

I hope you are getting well and recovering from your surgery.  Sorry about the bad news...  Not sure what is better, endo or scar tissue.  I had scar tissue and it was impossible to get rid of for more than a few weeks.
Many hugs!

Please take it easy and just try to recover from the surgery.  I am sorry about the news you received as well.  Let's hope the results of the biopsies come back to somethng that is more favorable over the other and is easy to treat you can move on.  I am praying for you.

Thanks ladies!

Helen - what did you mean about the scar tissue?  I'm confused.  How were you able to "get rid of it in a few weeks"?  Are you talking about adhesions on the inside? (that's what I'm referring to)

I too am sorry to hear about the bad news...but I'm glad that the ovarian drilling went well and that there was no scar tissue inside the uterus. I hope you're feeling a little better by now...

Best of luck with everything!

I had scar tissue (from previous surgeries) that was covering both tubes and made it impossible for me to conceive except with ivf.  During my lap my ob managed to remove all scar tissue but the scars are still there!  So, he told me that scar tissue was going to come back in a few weeks (unlike endo that does not come back for about a year).  So, we tried on our own for about 3 months and then went for ivf.  I hope this explains things a bit.  Since your ob did not actually remove anything I guess this does not make much of a difference to you though.

I am so glad your surgery went well and that youa re feeling a little better:)  I am sorry about the bad news that you got:( I wish it could have gone smoothly for you.  I hope you do get some pain relief and that whatever it is, can be taken care of so that you can try again.
