TTC IVF + 40

I'm 41, have had 3 failed IUI and the Dr suggested I move into IVF. He has recommended 600 of Gonal-F and 600 of Menopour daily.Is this right? for my last IUI I was taking 450 of each and only produced 1 egg. I decided to take a month off to give my body a break and I have lost 10lbs. I'm starting the IVF cycle next week. Any success stories with such a high dose? Please, please pray for me and that this cycle is successful.

I think considering your age and low response to meds before, increasing your meds is the only reasonable option. I believe 600 is the maximum dose that is recommended, so that gives you the best chance of producing multiple eggs, which is what you need for IVF. During my IVF I was told that what they like to see is 10-12 eggs, but don't worry, I've heard plenty of stories with women succeeding with fewer than that! Thank you, My Dr said he didn´t expect me to produce that many eggs.
I have never taken such a high dose, I really, really hope it works.

hello again, just read your post here, we are in the same catagory, i am nearly 41, was on menopur and ivf did work in april, i just miscarried. Anyway i was on 6 viels of menopur daily(75cl each i think) and buserelin, after 5 extra days of treatment i produced 6 eggs and 4 were fertilized. so i know extra or more meds is just to get better egg production.we are trying again in august in nothing happens natuarly and they will probably up my meds a bit. wishing you all the best.xx melissa

Thanks! I went and had my 2nd scan today 3 are over 10mm and 3 just a little under. He also gave me r-hGh to help them grow. I'm trying to stay positive.

I also did 600 IU of Gonal F and did produce 11 eggs. Better than three the previous IVF but it did not work. I'm 41 and I had four failed IVF

Really sory to hear you have had 4 failed attempts, do the dr's give any suggestions, do you have any medical fertility issues? i.e poly ovary or high hormone levels, we're going for second ivf and we have to pay it is so expensive £5000+ just trying to keep positivexx melissa

I don't have any medical issues, not even high FSH, it is GOD!!!! I guess he is taking His time :)
