TTC and dental procedures

OK, so I haven't been to the dentist in a while. I know I should have, but after we moved, I never found a new dentist, and since we've been TTC since then (and been pregnant twice), I've been putting it off and concentrating on TTC instead. Well, a few months ago, I noticed that I might be developing a cavity in my back molar, so I made a mental note that it's probably a good idea to go see a dentist, but then I started seeing my new RE and just kinda forgot about it. Well, I just noticed last night that it has become a lot bigger and is very noticeable now. It hasn't hurt at all, though...

Anyway, I think I need to just suck it up and go see a dentist, but I know they're going to do an X-ray, and I'm currently CD8 on a medicated cycle (femara and menopur). Would a dental x-ray and filling be an issue at this point? I would just hate to do anything that could mess up this cycle.

Any advice or suggestions?

Wow, so many coincidences!  My DH just had his wisdom teeth out a few weeks ago, so I'm hoping it works on the guy's end as well!!  :)

Hi girls,

Just thought I'd update you on the dental issue :-) I just went today. I told them I was TTC, so they covered me with a double led mat for the X-rays. Also, I guess the cavity wasn't as bad as I thought...and everything else looked good...so I'll be going back next Tuesday to have it filled.

...oh, and by the way, I called one of the nurses at my RE's office before going, and she said x-rays with a led mat is fine before ovulation. It shouldn't hurt the eggs, especially with the led mat protecting everything.

Thanks again for answering my post!

Thanks so much for your responses! I think I'll call tomorrow and set up a dentist appointment. I'll let them know I'm TTC and see what they say about the X-rays.

Thanks again!

:-)

Heather, i have been going for dentist appts since starting ttc. I haven't had an xray in a few years though. I just tell the dentist i'm going through fertility treatments and don't want to do xrays. I'm pretty sure the dentist will understand

it's ok to go to dentist.  just make sure you they know you are trying to conceive and when they take xray, just make sure they know what they are doing.

Sept 27th, i am going to have my treatment.

take care

When I was ttc I would schedule all dental appointments at the beginning of my cycle.  Even when you are pregnant it's OK to go to the dentist though since they can take special precautions.

Good luck to you this cycle!!!  I am really hoping for a bfp for you.
