resistance. Since then I have been taking the drug Metformin. I am overweight and recently joined a gym hoping that this would help my chances of conceiving. Lately I have been feeling hopeless and depressed. What are the chances of someone with my medical problems having a baby? And is their any other treatments or things I should be doing?
I would recommend that you continue with the metformin and work very hard with exercise and healthy diet (lower carb diets usually work best for people with PCOS) to get down close to your ideal weight. Losing weight is also a very effective way to increase fertility.
If you have managed to get your weight down and fitness increased and you're still not successful, then will be the time to get some assistance. Many women with PCOS have success with drugs such as clomid and femara which help ovulation.

to help me lose a little weight (I was diagnosed with pcos when he was 2 or 3). I lost something like 10 pounds in 2 months and 2 months after that I conceived on accident! We were told by my doctor that we didn't need to prevent pregnancy because I would never get pregnant. So, it's definitely possible! I've known of a lot of women with pcos who found weight loss combined with refusing to stress over getting pregnant to be the best fertility treatment they could find. Good luck!!!!
