Thin uterine lining?
I was told by my obgyn that I'm not getting preg because I have a thin uterine lining. Is there anything that can be given to treat this? Can my obgyn perscribe me something or will I need a reproductive specialist?

Has your ob done a progesterone test?  I imagine he/she would prescribe progesterone supplements, which would thicken your uterine lining.  If your lining is too thin, an embryo can't attach.  Progesterone suppositories seem to be a good first step.  Has your ob mentioned them?  If not, maybe you could ask him/her about trying them.  My ob originally prescribed them for me, but I'm continuing with them through my RE.  Before taking prog., my luteal phase (from Ovulation- period) was only around 9 days.  Since taking it, my luteal phase has grown to 15+ days.  So, it's definitely worth asking.  Also, my ob prescribed a compounded pill that has to be refrigerated.  I took those for approx 9 months & found them difficult to insert & there is some leakage.  My RE has prescribed Endometrin, which I just started last night & I'll tell ya, it's so much easier & so far, no leakage!  So, just thought I'd mention that :)  Good luck to you!!!

Wheat germ oil is a natural supplement that can be found in the local GNC stores.  It is made for that primary reason.  And it works within a matter of weeks.  You will see the difference right away.  Also I personally know two women who were pregnant within one month after using Wheat Germ Oil.  I started using it last month.  But there is very little information on the net as it pertains to WGO.  But like any thing else I advise you to research it for yourself, ask your doctor about it and ask the store clerks about the success of it.  But it definitely thickens the lining.  And it is natural. I started using it b/c clomid thinned my lining, after I started using it my fertility doctor informed me that he already knew of the success of wheat germ oil.  This really pissed me off because I think he didn't tell me about the product b/c it only costs nine dollars. Sometimes the least expensive things are just what the body needs.  I would be willing to bet that when wheat germ oil is learned about, the doctors will try to figure out a way to jack the prices of it right up just like fertility drugs.  So go get some and store up on it because I am sure it will not remain nine dollars.  Sorry to sound so pessimistic but my experiences have been less than positive.  Good luck and let me know how it's going.

Your soctor should have prescribed you estrogen and progesterone supplements to thickin you lining. You take each at a different part of your cycle.

Thanks for all of your recommendations. I am going to look into wheat germ oil as my first step & then look into the other drugs if that doesn't do the trick. My lining is very thin. I'm not sure what the exact measurement is but I can go 5-6 months without a period because there is no blood to shed.. sorry tmi

You not having a period probly dosen't have anything to do with the thickness of your lining, that is a whole different problem. If you are not having a cycle ~ even a small one you are not ovulateing! Ask you OB to clarify for you.

I would get a second opinion.  Even if it is on the thin side, it doesn't mean you won't get pg.  I personally think endometrium lining is a new fad with drs.  From what I have read, it is all just theories and things to focus on to optimize your chances but if it is on the thin side, it doesn't mean you won't concieve.  Mine ALWAYs measures thin, and I concieved my son that way.  Estrogen is the hormone that effects your lining.

Hi ladies, I'm now 26 weeks pregnant after taking wheatgerm oil for 1 month!!!! I was told in september 2011 I had a thin endometrium after having tests and scans for other problems plus my partner and I had not used contraception for over 4 years, I thought I'd see if they tgickened my lining by making my periods last longer than 2 days but I didn't get a chance to find out as after my LMP in october I fell pregnant, were still in shock but totally overjoyed, I puchased my wheatgerm oil online with Holland and barrett UK. It worked for me and its harmless so give it a try! Good luck !!!

Hello Katie..  its now March 2013 and I just read your blog about wheatgerm oil.
I purchased the same as you, coincidently, from holland and barratt today.. for my daughter. kindly tell me how much you took daily? The gel capsules I bought today were 1130 mg. each or thereabouts. Is this the same as yours and did you take just capsule daily and when, in the morning or at bedtime plse?
Yours answer ASAP would really be appreciated. Many thanks and congrats on your pregnancy hope all is going well for you.
