Time to see a specialist?

I am 30 years old and my husband and I have been trying almost a year to get pregnant.  I have been charting and all the strange other things we do to get pregnant and so far, no success.  My question is, is it time for us to seek some fertility/infertility help?  My cycles are not like clockwork (meaning I do not ovulated the same time each month).  Sometimes it's day 19 or 24 and currently I am on day 33 and still no ovulation.  I also tend to have shorter luteal phases (about 9-10).  My doctor didn't seemed to be concerned with any of this but I am.  I have been trying vitex to see if I could naturally boost my chances but haven't really noticed any changes.  Is it time for us to seek help? I appreciate any answers as I am ready to see if another step needs to be taken.  It's stressful and I don't want it to be!

Thanks again.

if you've been trying to get pregnant and it's been over a year and you are without success, then it's time to see a specialist.  You've got something going on that's preventing pregnancy.

Who knew that TTC would be so exhausting! It seems like most REs want you to TTC for at least a year before seeking help - at least 6 months if you are 35+ years. It is up to you though. Are you using a digital monitor? I tend to have very little temp shifts and the monitor helped me better id when I was going to O. Before I went to the RE I had lots of charts, was using the OPKs, herbs to help regulate my cycle, etc. and I felt overwhelmed and confused. Everyone is different, but I felt better when they were testing b\c I felt like if they found a problem or could tell me what I was doing wrong, we'd be able to fix it\work on fixing it. As it turns out, I have unexplained infertility. But I still feel better having the reassurance that we are not missing O and I am developing eggs, etc.  Good luck!

In the end, I think it's a pretty personal decision whether or not you should be looking into getting help but personally, I would.  What have you got to lose?
