Hi - how are you doing? I saw your post between you and another poster and didn't want to intrude there. I'm so glad to see you're doing well and saw your baby's heartbeat
- that is so wonderful! I remember my daughter's first sonogram and that was 11 years ago. I'm also glad to hear your pregnancy is going so smoothly - thank God. I love reading everyone's IVF/IUI stories. I unfortunately do not have the funds for the procedure and IVF is not covered by my insurance. I think IUI might have some fees covered but at 41 I've been told it's pretty much IVF or nothing. I'll keep my eye out for your posts and see how you're doing. I wish you all the best - take care and have a wonderful vacation
Oh gosh, it is never an intrusion, and I am so happy to hear from you. Thank you for the well wishes, the support is great. MY DH and I are thrilled, and since this is our first, everything is so new and exciting.
I don't know where you live, but here is a thought regarding IVF. Occassionally, some IVF centers will run "test" cycles for research purposes. If you can get into a test group, your cost is significantly less, or nothing, depending on the facility. I know where I go in Chicago, they just did a test group, but it filled up before I could get in. Just a thought, but it may give you a shot at IVF where otherwise not an option.
Will you attempt IUI?
Please keep in touch. I swear, this forum is my sanity. I love to have a place to share stories and talk about stuff, and my DH doesn't have to know. LOL!
Funny you mention this! I was just telling my DH over the weekend how I would volunteer to be a test person if I knew such a thing existed. He wasn't too crazy about the idea - I guess he envisioned giving his "sample" in front of a crowd - LOL!! :) Anyways, I do work at a hospital so maybe I should ask around? I guess it couldn't hurt. I also live very close to Mexico and I know this isn't the best place to go for medical procedures but I did check out a clinic there that many, many people here in my area have used. The price was less than half the US price but traveling across the bridge so much really stressed me out. My DH and I just decided against it. I would absolutely love to try IUI - at this point I'm ready to try anything. I'm chicken to call my insurance and see what all they pay. I guess b/c I feel I'm setting myself up for failure. But what's worse - failing or never trying??? Did you try IUI before IVF? :)
Men, they think this is all about them. My DH is the same way. They asked him to do two things (give a blood sample and a sperm sample) you thought he was hanging the moon!! LOL!!!! They crack me up.
I would definately contact your insurance. IUI is generally covered to a certain degree when IVF is not. So, maybe good news is in your future that way. Gosh, I will just keep praying for you. If you haven't considered this, acunpunture is also a great thing. I did this with my IVF, and I really think it made a BIG difference. Take care and keep in touch!!!!
