To who have been on clomid

I am going to go and see my dr tomorrow about taking clomid. We have been ttc for a year and 4 months and was wondering if the dr will do any tests before prescribing it? Did you or your partner have to do any tests before dr prescribing it?

we were asked to do a Semen Analysis for DH and I was asked to get the HSG (to check whether my tubes were blocked), Pelvic Ultrasound and day 2 blood work to check my Hormone levels..
have you done these already?

my partner had to have a semen analysis before hand to rule out him having the infertility, in which case it was me, but we knew that from the start

I  only had to have my dh do the seman analysis and then before the 3rd round I had to have the HSG done.

No we haven't done any yet. It took us 11 months to conceive our son so we thought we'd leave it a bit longer before going to see the dr but it's been 16 months and i'm going tomorrow to see what she says. So i would expect to do them before being given clomid? x

my RE felt it was a better idea to rule out any physical issues (blocked tubes , cysts etc) before deciding on the clomid....based on the test reports, she started me off with 100mg for days 3-7..took it for 2 months with no success and lots of side effects..so am taking a break this month..and start medication again next cycle onwards..

Like the others said, my husband had a seman analysis, I had pelvic exam and HSG test. No other testing (found male factor issues).  Doc put me on 50 mg clomid.  I responded very well (few side effects such as mood swings, just headaches) with 4-6 mature follicles but my lining was very thin when we did the u/s so couldn't proceed with IUI.  Reduced clomid to 25 mg this month, produced 2 follicles, but still had thin lining and developed a complex cyst on top of it.  No more clomid for me.  Not sure where we are going from here.  

Good luck with your situation.  I might recommend asking them to measure your lining pre-clomid/medication just to get a baseline to see if you naturally have a nice thickness or if it is thin to begin with.  Not knowing that may delay our treatment now.

Hi all!!! Well in my case they did the blood test, sonogram and a salpingogram to check the tubes. My husband didn't need a semen analysis because I had a previous prengnancy 2 years ago that end in m/c. On april I start with novarel shot and I got pregnant in the fisrt round but end in m/c and D&C. I took first round of clomid 50 mg this cycle I'm on cd 33. I did a HPT last sunday and was positive. I'm so nervous I have a lot of symptoms and I still positive.... Have today my first appt. Good luck for tomorrow and I hope all goes well.
