My husband and I have been trying to conceive now for 7 mths with no luck. My periods have been very regular since I came off the pill last Sept (2009). I had two bleeds within 10 days of each other in March. I went to my doctor who ordered some blood tests. I then had to go back for a 21 day progesterone blood test. The blood test showed that I didn't ovulate. From what I have read on the internet you are supposed to come on 7 days after the blood test, I didn't I came on 14 days later. I do believe I ovulated just later in my cycle this time which was 34 days. My doctor says to keep trying for a few more months and will only refer us to a fertility clinic once we have been trying for a year. My husband has now been asked to go and have a semen analysis done to check its not him. All my friends got pregnant pretty quick. Is there any need for me to worry that there might be something wrong with either of us?
How old are you and your husband? If you have regular periods, I'd say you are most likely ovulating. You may want to try tracking your ovulation with ovulation predictor sticks (you can buy those at a store) or even tracking your basal
. I'd say there really is nothing that would point to an issue with you just yet. It is definitely a good idea to get your husband tested, as about 50% of fertility issues are male factor related. Best wishes :)
I think tracking your BBT is a great idea. It's a pain in the butt taking your temp every morning at the same time but so far it's be right. I had a chemical pregnancy in March which threw my cycle off but with charting I was able to see when AF was coming and when I ovulated. I've only been charting for a month and a half but so far I'm happy with it and it's a small price to pay if it helps us get pregnant.
Keep on trying and if nothing happens go and get an Ultra Sound to see that you don't have any cysts that are delaying your periods and making it difficult for you to ovulate.. Try not to worry so much about it.. Worrying too much can also be a factor to delaying your periods.. Just relax and I hope that you'll get a positive result soon ;o)
Just a note to say thank you for your kind words. I have been doing the ovulation kits and the last two days it showed that i ovulated. We have been having regular intercourse
crossed that we conceive this month. My husband will go for his semen analysis end of this month when I am supposed to be on (May 31st) to be exact. We are going away for two weeks holiday in June so that should help take my mind off everything.
good luck!
unless you are older than 35, they wait until 1 year to officially deem you "subfertile"
this is also the time period most insurance companies dictate before they will offer you any benefits for testing.
