Trying to get pregnant

I am trying to get pregnant for the past 6 months but it is not working. Myself & my hubby are in good health condition. We don't drink & smoke. I am bit worried now. Can you give me any suggestions ?

Hi,
I'm sorry about that. IUI is Intrauterine Insemination, which is a form of artificial insemination. Here's a more "official" explanation that I found on a website: "A more efficient method of artificial insemination is to insert semen directly into the woman's uterus. Where this method is employed it is important that only 'washed' semen be used and this is inserted into the uterus by means of a catheter."
It is not painful and it's pretty quick. I get some cramps during the procedure, but it's not worse than a menstrual cramp. Some women also take fertility drugs. But I agree with everybody else, about seeing your Dr. and talk to her/him, and do some blood tests to make sure everything's ok. Usually they have the husband have some blood work done too and have a semen analysis done. It's good to get that out of the way in the beginning. I wouldn't worry if I were you. My hubby and I have been trying for almost 6 months (I'm gonna have my 6th IUI in a week or so) and so far nothing, except a chemical pregnancy. I'm not worried yet, just disappointed. I understand how hard it is, to be heartbroken every month when you're hoping to see a positive test result. Just hang in there:))))  Let me know how things go.

Hi

I am not understanding IUI. Basically I don't know the technical terms.

So very sorry to hear that your first IVF got cancelled....I can only imagine how disappointing that is. I'm very happy to hear you are trying again...sometimes doctors just need to work out the meds to better suit your body chemistry...during my whole process a friend kept telling me, "It's as much an art as it is a science," and I think that is very true.  Loads of baby dust to you....second time could be the charm, and like everyone says, "all you need is one good egg" :)

some couples can take a year to conceive, most fertility dr's recomend till 1 year of trying. I am same as you, we been ttc for 8months now, but my hubby hav low counts, n now taking meds to raise his counts. Just not to get worry or anything. you will see your surprise on the way. lots of Baby Dusts on you:)

Am on my way to second IVF, first one got cancelled as i responded too poor. hoping for better response this time. sperm issues and had to go for ICSI IVF and there is no hope for natural conception and we could not wait longer.

So happy to read your success story. lots of babydust.

We had to do IVF because while I had no issues other than being "of advanced maternal age" (SO sick of that phrase), my husband had a cogenital defect that made it impossible for us to ever conceive naturally. My RE told us our only real shot was IVF, so went for it. Luckily, I was a really good responder to the meds and produced plenty of eggs....I transferred two embryos on 7/28 and got a positive blood test last week. So, fingers crossed this pregnancy sticks (btw, my RE thinks it will be twins because of the beta numbers). Is IVF possibly in your future, or are you going to stick with the IUIs?

@ faluda: I could not agree more with these posts above....there are a lot of easy tests that can be done early on to determine if you have any issues (not saying that you do necessarily). I think it's so much better to know that stuff up front....

Have you been tested for PCOS? are you sure that you are Oing? sometimes the OPK can give you a positive, but your Overies sometimes do not release eggs, and Sonogram and bloodtests can answer that for you. let us know what you find out.

Healthy couple take a year to conceive, typically. so dont get disappointed. make sure that you track ovulation and babydance accordingly. if really anxious, can see a doc both of you and can get evaluted from both sides. such as are your tubes ok? uterus ok? and etc. and from your husband, is his semen ok? this might be just a checklist to be cleared off.

Did you do IUI or did you conceive naturally? How long did it take you to get pregnant? I'm gonna do my #6 IUI and this is the 2nd one with medication, so fingers crossed. :)

I agree with the post above...before I ever tried to get pregnant, I always thought that as soon as I went off the pill, *bam* I would be pregnant, but it often doesn't work like that. It's harder to do than we think despite those girls on "Teen Mom" :)  Fertility can also greatly depend on age. Personally, I would consider making an appointment with your OBGYN and speak to him/her. I spent countless hours and months stressing over this instead of just talking to my doctor. I really wish I had not of waited to do this...I could have been on a productive road much sooner.

Hey,
I found your post by accident, so here are my thoughts :)
My OBGYN told me that we have about 20% chance of getting pregnant in a cycle, and it takes about 6 months for a healthy couple. I'd say give it another try and see what happens. Or if you think, you could see a dr and have some tests done, both you and your hubby, if you haven't had it done yet. Have you considered doing IUI? If you do, there's a wonderful community of women where we support each other through this journey. Good luck and keep me posted :))
