Tubal Reversal?

Has anyone here had a tubal reversal? If so, where did you get it done? Were you happy with the doctor and feel confidant he/she did a good job? How much did it cost?

I just had my tubes tied in July and want to get a reversal...just trying to get more information.

Hi I just wanted to tell you I had an IVF in 2002 3 times and no luck I was 32 we spent over 10,000.
I just had a TR in June 2009 and it was a great success went to Dr. Rosenfeld also his staff is great and so is he we spent 6000 and it is worth it havent gotten prego yet but working on it and I think it's due to my age 41 but we are not giving up I'm ovulating like I should Cycles are regular and Progestrone is a good level. I had my tubes tied for 20 years and ready for another.  The Best Of Luck!

I had my tubes reversed in Feb. 08 in Houston by Dr. Rosenfeld. I was pregnant in 2 months. I had a healthy baby boy Jan. 09. I got pregnant again 5 months later and I am 4 months pregnant now. Tubal reversal worked for us it costs about 5k back then. He allows you to pay in installments.

I had my tubes tied approximately 13 years ago after my son was born and I had a reversal done in April 2008. I had the reversal done locally (Northern Louisiana) and it cost somewhere around 10,000. I went with reversal vs. ivf  for a few reasons, but cost was the most important for me. With IVF there is no guarantee and cost (in my area) about 10,000-12,000 per cycle. For me that would be hard to do more than once if need be. Whereas I could spend about the same amount once and have "unlimited" tries. Of course, there is no guarantee with the reversal either. Since I've had my surgery I have had an ectopic pregnancy and two miscarriages (all ending before 6 weeks). Needless to say, that was an emotional year. BUT I am currently 11w3d pregnant and so far all seems well. I wish you much luck with whatever you chose to do!

Every place I've inquired estimates that IVF here is an average of 10-12 thousand per round...and there's only something like a 30% chance each try. That could add up. The tubal reversal is about 6-8 thousand. I can come up with that in about six months. It would take forever to come up with enough for IVF. Plus, my husband and I are worried about multiples. From what I've been told, the success rate for the reversal would be good because 1) no underlying fertility issues and 2) such a short time since the tubal, so not as much scar tissue built up. Not sure how true that is. But, obviously, if we DO go that route, I want to choose the best MD I can.

I agree with Allicat... here in Fl It was 6.000 to have done. One cycle  of IVF here is 9.000 for cash recipients with out meds cost  . I had mine done in May 08. Got PG in November and miscarried Dec 27 08. I had a tubal 12 years ago. And went for a tubal reversal last year. everything is open. Two rounds of injectables 6.000, clomid round ,two HSGs . I'm still trying but with all the money I spent I should of went the IVF route. But I decided to take a break and try natural for a while. I still have hope. When you have a reversal your chances of ectopic are really high. But many women have gotten pg there first time trying after reversal. Good luck with your decision.

Undoing a tubal can cost nearly as much as IVF, and IVF is a better bet.  Insurance will not cover a reversal.  Hugs, really hoping you get done what you need to get done.

Did you have fertility issues before? How long prior to the reversal did you have your tubal? Do you already have children? I'm just curious...I've always been fertile - no problems at all. I got pregnant the first month trying this time last year, so I'm assuming I can still get pregnant easily. We just can't afford the IVF route...

Hi. I just wanted to say that I did have a tubal reversal in 10/2008. It was NOT successfull. We were devasted but now we have undergone IVF and it has been 5 days post embryo transfer now we are just hoping for the best. But it also depends what kind of tubal ligation you had to. Good luck with whatever you decide.
