Tubal surgery - help

I just got a phone call from my RE's office stating I need to have tubal surgery to remove at least one tube and maybe the other. They are not sure if the other is diseased. I am very scared. I had IVF last month and it was ectopic. They caught it soon enough that they were able to give me methroxtrate and it is working. My beta level is almost down to 0. I had an HSG done and I kind of messed up the whole procedure because I freaked out due to the pain and ruined most the pictures they took. I grabbed my stomach. Anyway, they went along with the IVF procedure because they said what they were able to see was free spilling from the right side and left (so the tubes are open), but the look of the tubes on the x-ray did not seem so good on the left side. Does anyone have any information they can give me or some positive stories in reference to getting pregnant? Thanks so much.

Oh man, I'm so sorry about your ectopic and problems with your tubes. Personally, I don't have any experience with either, but I just wanted to say that I'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best when you go back to your RE!!!

Also, since you're doing IVFs, I don't think it matters whether you have one, two or no tubes...but let's stay positive and hope for the best :-)

I had a tubal in Oct. 06 and they had to remove my tube in emergency surgery. But my doc said all you need is one to conceive. We did get pg in May but I m/c'd. But like the other Heather said, if you are doing ivf I don't think that you even need your tubes.  Good Luck!
