Ultrasound for ovaries?

Hi all, have always had irregular and painful periods but never thought too much of it and started microgynon 30 to regulate them years ago. I came off the pill after 12 years in June 2015 as TTC, periods are still very irregular and painful so decided to speak to my doctor to make sure everything is in working order and that there are no underlying issues. My GP has referred me for an ultrasound at Fawkham Hospital to have an ultrasound to look at ovaries etc. Have any of you had this type of ultrasound before and can let me know what I can expect next week? Is it an external or internal examination? Any info will be helpful! Thanks!

Hi all, so my ultrasound was just an external one. Results have come back clear - no signs of PCOS or such like! Next step blood tests and ovulation tests with the GP.

I had it done more then one time. They alway done a vaginal ultrasound first and if they have issues they did a regular ultrasound.

Im having one done thursday, pretty sure its external first, to check and make sure ur ovaries look normal, there's no cysts, things like that. If they see anything out  of the normal they would then probably do an interal ultra sound.  Iv suddenly been skipping periods, worried i might have a cyst or something good luck for us both!
