quality but warned that how they look has nothing to do with how good the chromosomes are.
This is confusing to me. Does it mean that a lower grade embryo
could have better genetics? Is it that structural quality is a necessary but not sufficient component; that is, the structural quality needs to be good as well as the chromosomes (which they can't tell by looking at the embryo
I am in the same boat as you. This is our third IVF cycle on 1/19 and we had 12 eggs this cycle and out of that 4 made it to transfer, so we put all 4 in today. So the answer to your question is that they all have a chance but your 8A embryo
has an excelllent chance but so does the others, it all depends on the implantation, That is what my dr and the embryologist said she said that some womens eggs are always fragmented an they go on to make beautiful babies. We lost one to a chemical pregnancy 2 septembers ago, one our last one we saw the hartbeat and she died 3 days later. The dr did genetic tests and thinks they got maternal material because the chromosomes were ok and a girl. Ours are 5B, 8C,6C, and we took our 4B also. We figured if i was not going to make it in a petri dish, we would give it a chance atleast in utero.
So hang in there, we are both 40 now and it gets harder as we get older.
Nshapland - it can definitely mean the lower grade can have better genetics. I had 2 top graded blasts put in and 1 took and it was chromosomally abnormal. I asked my dr why it would be graded an A if it was chromosome abnormal and he said the grading system is flawed in that way. I think they really just base the grading on the cells and how they are dividing etc. did you have 5 put back in then? good luck to both of you!!!
It makes me wonder why they won't put more in if only like 1 out of 8 or 1 out of 10 of my eggs are good at age 40. I wanted them to transfer all of them to increase my chances, but they refused...
I actually had a 3day transfer with 3 embies (1x 8cell) and (2x7 cell) and I am currently 29wks preggo. I believe the 8cell is the one that took because my RE said if he could guess if any of them would take it would be that one! Of course you wonder the chromosome abnomalities but don't stress on that now! You want those babies to stick.....NO STRESS!!!! Did you do ICSI? I don't think the more they would put in would make it any easier but actually harder for any of the embies to stick. I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers and hope you get your BFP!!! When do you go in for your beta?
I go in Feb 2nd for beta.
Do you think I hurt my chances by having them put in five instead of 4? Now I'm a little worried.
We did not do icsi because the dr said my husbands sperm looked great and that in his experience, embryos
without icsi look better structurally. The downside was that only 4 fertliized within 24 hrs. When they looked again on day 3 the other 5 had fertilized but were only like 4 and 5 cell.
I wish the dr had talked to me about how many to transfer before I had taken the Valium, because I was a bit out of it when discussing it with him...
I just realized you transfered 5....I thought it was 3. But NO I don't think you hurt your chances.....really don't worry. If he said it was ok to transfer 5 then go with your Dr.'s advice. My RE just told me it doesn't increase the chances the more you transfer but could possibly alter the outcome. But with the 3 8cells embies that you transfered that is great!!! I didn't do ICSI or PPD either because they said due to hubbys sperm being ok there was no need. I think you made the right decision....don't second guess it. Just relax as best you can so they can burrow in :-) Feb. 2nd will be here soon enough!!
