Uterine Polyps

Has anyone else experienced this?  I've been TTC for a while, and went to an initial fertility appointment.  I had an ultrasound done, where the technician is almost positive she saw a uterine polyp.  My question is, do these polyps hinder fertility?  I'm wondering if this is the reason I haven't gotten pregnant?  Also, anyone have one removed, and how do they go about it?

Yes, I was put completely under.  Mine was called a D&C w/polypectomy.  Mine didn't go away on it's own and it was 1/2", so large enough to cause concern.  My insurance paid for it and the recovery was only a day.

I just had a procedure done this past friday where they removed 2 uterine poylps and some scar tissue from my uterus.  The procedure was called a  hysteroscopy resection of intrauterine adhesions.  it was an outpatient procedure and I was good to go that same day.  The doctor just gave me the go ahead to continue trying the old fashion way this month.

I had polyps my first IVF cycle, and the DR was going to remove them, but decided to wait for 2 weeks and see what happened. He told me they normaly don't go away on their own, but low and behold, mine did!!!! I would wait a couple weeks and ask your DR to recheck you.

What procedure did you have done?  I read that sometimes they do a D&C?  Do they put you completely under?

I had a polyp before my 1st IVF cycle and my RE removed it.  He belives it CAN hinder implantation of embryos.  The prodecure wasn't that bad; outpatient, some cramps and spotting for a day.   Good luck!
