Varying FSH Levels, Charting & OPKs

I'm 31 and my dh and I have been ttc for a year.  In the beginning I used OPKs and never got a positive result, I would get a line but it was never as dark as the control line.  I started charting my temperature and it would go up a little a couple days after I would get a light line on the OPK.

In March my regular OB/GYN ordered a FSH & Estradiol and referred me to a fertility doctor.  My FSH was 14.1, Estradiol was 35.  Last week DH & I met with the fertility doc and he said that with FSH should be less than 9 and basically my only shot was IVF with donor eggs.  He said we could check it again but some doctors believe that one bad test is enough.  He also thought I might have PCOS so he ordered the sperm count for my dh and another FSH and a testosterone test for me.  We have an appointment next Thursday to talk about all our results.

I took my new labs today...got the FSH result online...it was 10.4

Has anyone had any experience with any of this?  Varying elevated FSH levels or the always negative OPKs?

Some places I read that results can be considered borderline and there's a good chance I could get pregnant and then other places that there's no hope.  I desperately want to have a baby but at the same time I don't want to go in to debt and walk away with no baby and huge bills to pay off so I want to realistic about how we proceed.

Yeah, that much I know.  After the initial fsh test of 14.1 my doc made it sound like there was pretty much no hope of using my own eggs but he said that he would to the test again to confirm that.  This last (2nd) test was 10.4...so I know that's still high but not as high as 14.1.  I guess where I get to thinking maybe it's not as bad as he made it sound is because I am normally like clock work...every 24 to 25 days.  The cycle where I got the day 3, 14.1 I ended up being 2.5 weeks late and not PG...never in my life had I been that late (I've never been more than 2 or 3 days late)...so if that cycle was way off for me then maybe that result was way out the my norm too and my 10.4 is closer to where I normally am...which is way more borderline that 14.1

Am I grasping at straws here?  My dh and I have our consult appt a week from tomorrow to talk about our results...I don't want to wait that long!  I'm still waiting to here on the testosterone test for the PCOS....

Once you have a high fsh you are always high.  I had one of 14.9 once and only once with the clomid challenge but I am high fsh.  You have a low ovarian reserve.  The good news is that you have few eggs but you are young enough that those few are probably good.

They started me on clomid to see if I would ovulate.  I did ovulate but did not get pregnant.  I wont bore you with everything but I have used every drug on the planet and had IUI & IVF.  They did make me produce eggs - I guess that at my age they have all been fried.

Don't listen to the doctors and let them scare you.  You can get pregnant.  It will just be a little harder and you will need an RE's help.  Your eggs are young.  Good luck!
