Just wanted to find out who is using what vitamins while ttc.
I've been really bad about it, I started taking follic acid on and off. My clinic gave me sample prenatal vitamins, but they are huge and I can't swallow them. So I want to ask them for a different perscription, and I'm not sure what to ask for.
actally the other day i picked up some info on prenal vitamins at my RE's office...because during my first pregnancy with my son i took citracal..(i think that was the name)....so this time around a couple years later i started on it again and i was sick to my stomache. so then i switched to Precare...and it seems to be working ok for me ...ive been taking them for about 6 months now....but anyway...i was reading that the company that makes Precare also has other prenatal vitamins tailored for your needs. one was a chewable, another that works for people who get nausea and morning sickness... and so on...tomorrow when i go in i will look for the info and get back to you...
I actually hear about Precare my friend is taking something call PreCare Conceive. I found online som Precare Premier. Do you know the website for the over all PreCare company.
Right now I'm not taking any vitamins. But when I took the IUI class, they gave me 3 choices:
1. Multivitamins that contain follic acid
2. 400mcg of follic acid
3. Prenatal vitamins
I ask RE yesterday about the vitamins and he said that there are some that you can get over the counter. When I go back there tomorrow, I'll bring the samples of prenatal vitamins that they gave me and ask for a different prescription.
I'm just taking regular over-the-counter prenatal ivitamins, and according to my doctor that's fine while ttc. Once pregnant, I'll probably switch to a prescription one. Take care!
I saw my RE a week ago when I was 5w 4d, I am now 6w 5d. Anyways I asked the vitamin question and he said that they were essentially all the same so to continue taking the generic grocery store brand I have been taking. I also always take the vitamin with a glass of OJ in the morning - starting to get a little rough on the stomach - but the OJ is filled with Folic
I've been using Select-OB prenatal vitamins and they're great. I've been on them for over a year and a half now b/c my OBGYN instructed me to start using them as soon as we started ttc... absolutely no side effects (no nausea at all). That was one of the big concerns I had when I started taking the prenatal vits b/c I know there are a lot out there that cause constipation/diarrhea and usually nausea. Plus if you can't swallow big pills, they're also chewable and they taste like blueberry (not that that's a reason to buy them). But it is a prescription vitamin.
Im on TTC my dr. advised me to take some Multi Vitamins + Minerals (superform) ...I've been taking it for 3 months....hope next month will have a positive results :-).
