What are the advantages of METFORMIN?

What are the advantages of METFORMIN? How does it help one with pcos and lose weight?
Will this help me to reduce the 10kgs i have gained during the past 9 months?
How long should i take metformin to reduce atleast 5-6kgs?

Metformin commonly prescribed to women with PCOS because PCOS is linked to insulin resistence.  Metformin helps regulate insulin levels and therefore correct the hormone imbalance that might be causing the weight gain and infertility.  I am not sure Metformin will help you lose weight unless you are exercising and watching your diet, but regulating your insulin will help get your body on track to losing weight more effectively.

i agree with wantingbabynow....it should help regulate ovulation each month, help you produce a mature follie and ovulate, you may still need help of meds like clomid etc, but it will help make you have successful ovulation! its worked great for me and i have always  had regular cycles too!
