What is a good size follicle?

I went to the RE today to have an u/s done to see if I was ready for my trigger shot, but my follicles were not big enough.  Most of my follicles were 3mm I have one that was 6.8mm and anotgher that was 6.3 mm and yet another one that was 8.4 mm.  I should have asked while I was there, but I never think of the questions while I am there, but what is the preferred size for a follicle?
