Hi Maria - I work at a radiology facility and our policy is a patient must be atleast 20 weeks. It may be different at other places, but our doctor's believe in order to see everything, you should be atleast 20 weeks. So I know its hard and definitely talk to you doctor but I would wait if you can!
Thank you for your response. I was confused after reading it on the Internet.
my doctors office only does a level 2 ultrasound if your testing come back abnormal, other than that between 16-18 weeks you usually have a regular ultrasound that just checks things like the brain, heart, kidneys etc.
You are correct, the level 2 u/s is usually done between 18 and 22 weeks. It is much more comprehensive than a growth ultrasound and typically done at a Perinatologists office. They will check everything from the top of the head to the feet and everything in between.
