When to start counting? 10dp iui too early to test?

I was wondering if Im counting my DPO right... I had IUI on Nov 1... Do I count nov 2 as 1dpo or 2dpo? Also, if today is day 10 for me, is a negative result reliable or is it way too early?

Thanks!! I took one this morning, it was a cvs blue dye- it has a faint blue line- def not gray. I didnt realize it was a blue dye test until I got home which stinks b/c ive heard horror stories about false positives with blue dye tests... if i post the pic can you look at it for me?

November 2 would be 1 dpo (or 1dpiui), so you're only 9 dpo today. As for when to test, both 9 and 10 dpo is early, and very few get a positive at this point. I would wait until at least 12 dpo, but even then, you can't be sure you're not getting a false negative until your period is officially late. Best of luck!
