Where to begin....

I am so happy to have stumbled across this web page-it looks like I am not alone afterall! Misery sure does love company!  My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over two years..... 5 miscarriages later here I am (longest 16 weeks, 11 weeks....) we have been working with a fertility clinic for the last year (clomid, repronex, progesterone, femara, baby aspirin.....and that was just my last cycle!). We have unexplained infertility and I am almost ready to throw in the towel.... will be able to test in another 10 days....8 mature follicles, so let's hope this one sticks.  We have had 9 IUI's but nothing has stuck.  Has anyone else had this problem? Really hoping for a good news story somewhere. Of course, all of my friends are either pregnant or crazy fertile which makes this hard to find support- they have been as good as they can without truly understanding.  I am considering taking a few months away from my job to reduce stress and just focus on this.... this is my last kick at the can....any advice?

I am sorry to hear about your luck. Have you had 9 IUIs and 5 of those were MCs? I am close to you in the numbers. Three MCs - 14 weeks, 9 weeks, 8 weeks. And since the MCs probably 6 or 7 IUIs and one IVF. Since I have tried almost 10 times since the MC, I think it's my eggs. Because I was getting preg on my own and now even with IUI - not even a miscarriage. I know a miscarriage is not something to hope for but it was an indicator of something was temporarily working. I am probably going to try donor eggs. It is freaky to some people but I have been too far down the line to forget how happy I was pregnant and how much I want a family.

My advice would be to take it to the next level. If all the tests show nothing else is the problem, IVF may help. Good luck...

I was told by my RE that unless the reason found for recurrent miscarriages was something like chromosome abnormalties than IVF would not work in our case.

If there was a greater chance of not miscarrying I would definitely get it done but after 8 known miscarriages with no live births IVF would be the same as just opening a window and dropping the money out.  I am glad to have found a RE who instead of just wanting to take our money is very honest about the chances and possible outcome.   I went to one RE and that is the only thing she would even consider.  She wanted to do IVF and had not even ran any test to see what was going on before recommending it.

Welcome, I think finding this forum has at least helped my mood.  It is really tough ttc and getting no where.  My issues is my FSH level is high, other than that, i am healthy and my husband has super sperm, LOL  We have had 6 IUI's and I took 3 rounds of clomid and 10 rounds of fermara and I have never been pregnant.  I really think my first IUI almost took, really thought it would happen, but it didn't.  Now I have 15 extra pounds on me due to the drugs and I hate it!  My husband calls it baby cushion and he promises to help me lose the weight after I have a baby.  So, for now, I wait and keep trying.  I am going to up my exercise this summer so I at least feel better.
I am sorry to hear about your MCs. Do you take progesterone after ovulation?

I thought ivf was helpful for people who miscarry b/c you get more embryos in there and maybe one will stick?
I've had two miscarriages and my RE is pushing me to do ivf...

thank you so much for all of the support.  I, like udbe2 am not a candidate for IVF since we have an issue with miscarrying.  That being said, the fertility doctor did say that since I have not been pregnant for 8 months, it may be worth trying followed by bed rest.  Hoping for a positive test next week so that I can finally put this to rest. Really appreciate everyone who took the time to respond :)

Hi Cindy and welcome.    I too have unexplained infertility/recurrent miscarriages.  The longest I've carried is 9 wks.  Gone through every test imaginable and so far we are only guessing short luteal phase and cm have been our problems.   I seem to get pregnant when I have been sick and taking nyquil so the RE told me to take mucinex with my clomid to increase cm and so far this month it is working.

I'm on my I think now 16 yrs ttc our first after 8 known pregnancies resulting in miscarriages.

My RE won't try IVF with us since it is expensive plus we are able to conceive on our own but he doesn't want us to waste the money especially since I have a history of recurrent miscarriages.

Hi Cindy. I also thought that I had unexplained infertility and it took FIVE yes FIVE OB's before I finally got a diagnosis of PCOS. I was so freaking frustrated but just kept searching till I found an OB that would listen to me and go through all of the tests necessary to get an answer. I have been ttc for 34mths and have had 1 m/c. We are now doing IUI and Clomid and ovadriel. Hopefully you can find some answers soon too.

Wow - nine IUI's is a lot! My RE told me they wouldn't have me try more than 6 before moving onto IVF. I actually only did one, which resulted in an ectopic. Due that emotional rollercoaster, I said I wasn't willing to do that again. So here I am nine months after that happened in my TWW of my first and hopefully only IVF cycle (two home BFPs yesterday and today with first beta on Wed 6/2). Have you talked to your RE and husband about IVF?
