Will HSG help prevent Ectopic pregnancy?

Hi,
Would you please advice me on whether or not i should take HSG test?
i had an ectopic in May, the tube was ruptured(right one).
My gynaec has adviced me to go for HSG before ttc.
I am scared about undergoing a HSG, but if it will help prevent another ectopic then i would like to go for it.

Hi! An HCG will NOT prevent another ectopic. Everyone can suffer an ectopic and your risk increases if you already had one... an HCG will determine if your other tube is permeable, ie works...

if it's blocked, the HSG will detect it. At leats, you'll know what you're up against. Sometimes, an HCG can actually help a blocked tube (the dye that is puched in the tube can sometimes "flush" stuff in there)

I also suffered an ectopic pregnancy and I have 1 damaged tube; my HSG showed that my other tube was open... and after 2 years of trying, we managed to conceive. I am 8 weeks pregnant so don't loose hope!

ps an HSG lasts about 5 minutes is is not painful just a little uncomfortable... I got it on my lunch break and went right back to work at 1pm!
