Worried about blocked tubes, any advice?

Hi, thank you ladies so much for being so welcoming, this is a great forum. I am at 1 DPO and anxiously waiting. I have been trying to concieve for over a year after my last m/c.  A few months ago I had an SHG (with saline and ultrasound) to see if my tubes were open, and they both spasmed so we couldnt tell anything. Then I had a lap and again, they both spasmed and the doctors couldnt tell anything. Now my doctor wants to do an HSG which my insurance will not cover. I am worried that they are blocked because it is taking so long to conceive after my m/c during which I had two back to back d and c's, and I am thinking maybe that caused scar tissue to form?  What do you ladies think?

He has not been formally checked, but we have had two IUIs and when they looked at the sperm for those they said it looked great. Plus we have had two pregnancies within the last 18 months before my last m/c in Jan 07, so the RE thinks that he is okay.   I think I will call the doctor today to get a price estimate for it because you are right, I need to ease my mind.  I just ovulated for this cycle, so I guess we will see how this goes then maybe try to schedule something. Thank you for the help,  and the invite  ; )

Well I certainly understand that. But I think the only way you will really know is to have the HSG. Just think, then you will know for sure, you won't be wondering all the time and its worth having a baby!! Maybe you could give yourself a time line. You know, keep TTC for another year then do an HSG. My husband and I tried for 7yrs-very very frustrating. Also, has your husband been checked??

I have had a lap to remove a small amount of endometriosis and he tried to pass a probe through my tubes and they spasmed. I want to do the HSG but my insurance wont cover it, I am just wondering what the likihood is of scar tissue, because some websites say that since they were first semester d and c's there is little risk,  I am just scared I am wasting time trying and my tubes are blocked, but dont want to pay full price for an HSG if I dont really need it.

You most definately probably do have scar tissue but please don't worry yourself too much ( I know it's hard not too) they can remove all or most of the scar tissue by doing a laparascopy. It is a very simple procedure and you are put under for it. I have had one myself along with a hysteroscopy. When your doctor does an HSG, he will be able to cleary tell wether your tubes are blocked or not, which they may not be!! Hang in there. You will know about your tubes after your HSG. Then, just go from there and look at your options. Both my tubes are blocked so my husband and I have to do IVF. Keep me posted and good luck to you!!!!
