Just wanted to let everyone know in case some dont know the difference....a QUALitative test is only a yes or no test and there has to be a certain amount of HCG in your blood or it will say NEG. If you are very early like 10 dpo it most likely will not pick it up. A QUANTitative test measures the actual amount of HCG in you rblood and anything over 1.0 means you're pregnant. Mine was 10 at 10dpo but the QUALitative test said neg. Some sites say a normal 10dpo is around 24 but it really depends on when the egg implanted as to what the number will be. As long as it has doubled 48 hours later, things are moving along. I wanted to pass on this info because I know how my heart dropped after seeing the NEG when I looked up the results at the hospital I work at so I made them run the other test because I had already gotten a ++ hpt the day before. I guess some of the urine
tests are more sensitive than the qualitative tests are. If you get back a NEG and you still think you are pregnant make sure you ask them which one they ran and what your number is.
My ob/gyn told me that the qualitative blood tests only show a + with an hcg level of about 25, so it is true that most hpt's are more sensitive (which is what she told me).
I disagree in that a blood test can detect any level of HCG and if it's quantitative can give you a number. Qualitative are usually only positive >20. So with 10, the HPT would be negative and the blood test would be positive.
and I got positives on both of them and the qualitative said neg and the quantitative said 10 so I have proof that the hpt was more sensitive.............My 10 dpo was hcg of 10 and my 14 dpo was an hcg of 138.3 so I am definately pregnant and the beta hcg was a false negative............
You also are confusing the 2 terms of quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative gives you a number...the amount of hcg in your blood and qualitative simply gives you a positive or a negative.
