abnormally long period after d&c

E33
Hi Everyone,
I am a 29 year old married, overweight but healthy woman who has been ttc for 14 months now.  4 years ago I got pregnant and terminated the pregnancy at 6 weeks. Since then I have had a lot of trouble with my mentstrual cycle.  I have not been regular since. I have seen many doctors and they all assure me that there was no damage done during the abortion.
Last September I did not get my period for 6 months, then I started to bleed profusely for over a month in late April.  My doctor did a hysterosonogram and found a large polyp which he later removed via d & c June 28th of this year. I thought I got my first period since the surgery 2 weeks ago, but I have been bleeding off and on (mostly on) for 2 weeks.  Today my flow was bright red, not clotty, I have no cramping and seems more like it was when i had the polyp than a typical period  bleed. I called my doctor, he asked if I was still ttc and I said yes, he said that I should come in and talk about clomid.
Im confused, it seemed like the polyp was the cause of the profuse bleeding before, but now what could it be?  And shouldn't the doctor want to find out the cause of the bleeding before clomid and getting me pregnant?  Has anyone here ever heard of this kind of thing before?

Thanks
ps... 3 years ago, i had all my hormones tested and they ruled out pcos.

I would think he would do an u/s to see if polyp is returning b4 starting Clomid. As for the Clomid, it did help my cycles get back to normal after my d&c.
