Also femara works differently than clomid.  clomid binds to the estrogen receptor blocking the real estrogen from binding.  This makes you brain think estrogen is low (even though it really is not) and you will ovulate.  Femara on the other hand inhibits an enzyme that actually makes the estrogen therefore it actually lowers your estrogen level.  This also then makes you ovulate.  Anyways femara is a good alternative, especially for those who had little success with clomid.  Be aware thought that it does cause birth defects if taken when you are ALREADY pregnant so just be sure you  are NOT pregnant when taking this drug.  It has a very short half life and is gone by the time implantation occurs and because of this it does not thin the uterine lining.  Clomid hangs around for a month or more.

I've heard Femara can work well, and less neg. s/e than Clomid.

I've never taken Clomid but I've heard women would get the dosage upped if it didn't work the first time.  I think they start off with 50mg and go up to 100mg or something like that.

Good luck!!
