anticardiolipin - blood clotting disorder

anticardiolipin - blood clotting disorder

it's been a really long time since i've been in here, but i finally (it took two months!!) got my blood test results back. they said my anticardiolipin test came back and my levels were slightly elevated - should be 0-9 and mine was 12. I've had two previous m/c but haven't been able to get pg for a year and a half. does anyone know anything about this?

i'm wondering if this could have any affect on not being able to conceive?

also, she said I should take baby aspirin if I get pregnant again - problem is - both times i m/c, it happened before i even knew i was pg... i asked if i should/could start taking the aspirin now even though i'm not yet pregnant, in case it does happen. she was just the nurse relaying info and said that when i call in to make my appt for HSG test in a month, I can ask my dr then what she recommends. I know this is crazy thinking - but i keep wondering what happens if i would end up pg this month? should i just take the aspirin now even tho i haven't yet talked to my dr just in case i am pg? will it hurt anything?

yeah I have the same thing I am already taking the baby asprin daily even though I was told to take it after I got pregnant.  I also am suppose to have to start taking blood thinners when I get pregnant.  So it's totally fine to take the asprin now.

I've got some kind of chromosome mutation or enzyme issue that they've got me on baby aspirin - it's working for me...  I'm about 10 weeks now!!  I had two miscarriages at about 4/5 weeks this spring.  I've been told that I'll probably want to take the aspirin every day for the rest of my life (by the dr's assistant).  When I mentioned this to the dr he said that wouldn't be necessary.  I've lived the first 32 years of my life with no issues - it's just with TTC that this was discovered.  I've donated blood countless times with no complications.  It's amazing to think that 81mg of aspirin is enough to do the trick -but it sure is!!  Good luck!  I don't think it has anything to do the actual TTC part - that's just pure timing.

Congrats on 10 weeks!! :) It is amazing that such a small dosage can do so much... I started taking it yesterday, and I feel really good that I'm doing something... even if it's not much

Thanks - I'm still in denial that this is happening, I've hardly had any symptoms. I think for whatever reason b/c I haven't had morning sickness I don't feel like I'm really pregnant...  With the aspirin, it's amazing.  For whatever reason - it's made the difference for me.

I'm taking baby aspirin while ttc too! I have factor 5 leiden (which also can lead to blood clots). Good luck to you this month!

Thanks - I go in for an u/s tomorrow.  I'm anxious to see how things are progressing.  We haven't told anyone - so it's fun to talk about it on this forum!  Good luck Ashort with the genetic counselor.  Heather - my dr said I tested negative for factor 5 - but I've read about it on-line and it seems that baby aspirin - a meager 81mg does the trick. I wish you good luck!

Jen--

I was never diagnosed with ANA or other things (even though I think I might have it), but I had two miscarriages last year.  Last Dec. I got pregnant again while taking baby aspirin because I heard it could help....I took it my whole pregnancy and had  a baby girl in August!  Good look, dear!

Sorry, I just saw this... that is really good to hear! I'm hoping that this helps me as well. I also found out I have low progesterone levels, so am now back on Clomid (which ended up causing my levels to raise back to where they should be) and will be for four months. I'm hoping one or both of these things helps. Congrats on your little girl!! I'll bet she's growing fast! :)

Hi Jen!  Thanks for writing back!!!!  I'm so thankful for my little girl too....she IS growing fast.  I TOO have low progesterone.  I took baby aspirin the whole pregnancy and I took progesterone through 13 weeks.....I then had a baby five weeks early (technically premature)....  SO, my Dr. said that the next pregnancy I will take progesterone up until 36 weeks as this can keep women from laboring prematurely...  So I hope It will help me carry to term!!!!

Are you trying to conceive this month????  Good luck!!!!!  Take that baby aspirin!!  I really believe it helped me....even though I wasn't ever given a "dianosis"....my perinatologist said it wouldn't hurt.

Hello! Yes, we are trying this month (fingers crossed :) I'm taking the baby aspirin and Clomid and using OPKs... so hopefully we'll have good luck with it... I'm supposed to take Clomid for four months and then do more testing if that doesn't work. So far, it has helped to increase my progesterone levels to where they need to be... but I'll have another test soon to make sure they are still up there.

Hi Jen!  I also used an OPK to help me get pregnant.....The one month I used it and we had so much sex, I think my DH's sperm were all used up....so, the next month, I used those OPKs religiously and waited to BD until I got a positive on the OPK strip....it worked!!!

However, do you what you're supposed to do for Clomid....  I HOPE IT WORKS!  I think the baby aspirin might help!!!  Good luck, Jen!!!!!!!!!  What Cycle Day are you on now?

Hi! I'm on CD14 and got a faint positive on my OPK this morning... I've wondered if you can "do it too much"   :)  so we waited until last nite, bc I knew it was getting close. Will bd the next couple nights and hope it works for us too!
