Hi Ladies,
I had my IUI done on Sunday and starting yesterday they put me on progesterone in OIL shots..YUCK!! For most girls they just have to use suppositories...I probably should have asked why they're doing that for me....sometimes they run tests on me and I dont even ask because I get nervous.
Are the oil shots stronger meaning more progesterone in them? Should I assume that maybe I had a luteal phase defect and that the oil shots would do more than suppositories..
I know I could always ask my RE but she always seems so busy!
I'm on the oil injections right now, as I'm on my first IVF cycle (transfer last Friday). That is one big needle. I've also been on the progesterone pill, and I say give me the pill any day. However, here's what I read about the oil:
Progesterone in oil is highly effective at the uterine
level; many physicians consider it to be the gold standard for progesterone supplementation, particularly in high stakes in vitro fertilization cycles. Additionally, unlike Crinone, progesterone in oil supplementation is also reflected in serum
tests, allowing levels to be more easily, albeit indirectly, monitored. The once a day dosing is convenient for patients, and the cost is quite low, often only several dollars a day for a patient taking 1 cc.
Mine was 38 or something this time-highest it's ever been. Plus, maybe I'm just imagining this, but my hair is so nice and shiny now from the sesame oil. lol
