baby's heartbeat

Hi,
   I just had my 8 week checkup today...needless to say I was worried beyond belief since I've had two miscarriages in a row.  However, the baby measured at exactly 8 weeks 3 days and there was a beating heart!  I got choked up seeing that.
  Question...the heartbeat was 170 bpm. I always thought that the "normal range" was 120-160...just wondering as it seemed high...or if anyone knows if it's a lot higher this early on?? Just seeing if anyone has experience with this.

Oh that is wonderful news! I blubbered for hrs when I saw the hb :) The hb will vary quite a bit. The dr didn't seem worried did he?

Congratulations!!  That is a wonderful feeling!  I had my u/s last week at 7 wk 1 day and saw the heartbeat.  I cried for hours;-)

At 8 weeks, my baby's heartrate was 179.  Now, I am 13 weeks.  So, I think you are perfectly fine.  The previous poster is right, the heartbeat will fluctuate up and down during the course of the entire pregnancy.

we saw and heard the heartbeat last week too!!!!!  It was amazing!!

Hi CONGRATS!!! when I had my son whos 3 now his heart beat was fast too,So you have nothing to worry about,I also have heard that faster heart rates mean girl,but it might be a urban meth...But Anyway Goodluck and God Bless!!!

Congratulations.  That's terrific.  I'm getting all teary-eyed right now.  I know that feeling you're talking about after seeing the heartbeat.
