bad news

Oh geez where so I start....well out of 17 fertilized eggs we had only one 2 grade (6 cell) two 3 grade (5 cell and 4 cell) and the other six that made it to day three are 4 grade my RE doesn't think they will make it to freeze.

Apparently I have something genetically wrong w/ my eggs.  For what ever reason they end up have 3 nuclei(sp) and normally when that happens an extra sperm fertizled the egg. I wish that were it, they looked at all of them and it's not a sperm issue it's definetly a defect in the egg.?????
I had the 3 best tranfered yesterday morning, I'm trying to be positive....

But wait it get's worse:(

About a half an hour after DH and I get home my mother calls me frantic and said my uncle (who is 52) died while mowing the lawn. This is my father's best friend, he can't even talk and my poor aunt who found him, I am so sad.
The service is Tuesday and Wednesday but it is in Chicago and I am in Austin TX, everyone is telling me not to fly home. I don't know what to do. My husband, brother in law and sister (who all live in Austin) are going.  Should I? Also, has anyone gotten pregnany on a grade 2 and grade 3???

First, I am so sorry that all this is happening to you.  Try not to stress, although I know that goes without speaking.  I'm sorry to hear about your uncle.  That's horrible.  My husband's grandfather died the same way, massive heart attack.  It's awful.

I'm sure if you spoke with your doc, they would OK you to go to your uncle's funeral.  Especially if you wait to leave Monday or Tuesday.  I was told by the nurses at my clinic that they have known patients to have transfers and fly the next day.  As long as you don't lift anything heavy and try to stay off your feet as much as possible for 2-3 days post transfer, you should be fine.  Just don't overdo it.   Let your dh handle the luggage.

As far as your embryo grades, my clinic grade them differently, 5 being the best, and 1 being the worst.  But I had the same 3 grades transferred, except mine were 1 grade 4 (8cell) and 2 grade 3's (6 and 7 cell).  My  I am now 14wk pg.  I did start off with twins, so actually 2 of them implanted, but I lost one at 8wks.

Maybe you could call your Dr. ASAP and ask his opinion...I am sure it would be fine as long as you take it as easy as possible...but get his opinion just to make sure.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of your uncle.  And I'm sorry for the dissappointing news on the egss.  I have not done IVF yet, so I'm not sure about whether or not you can travel.  I will be praying for you!

I am sorry to hear about your Uncle. How awful!  I feel for you as far as the disappointment goes in regard to large numbers as far as egg retrieval and not having any to freeze.  I am right there with you.  All I can say is to remember YOU ARE PREGNANT RIGHT NOW and to stay stress free as possible for the sake of the little ones inside you.  I still blame stress as to why mine didn't want to stay and make a home.  Don't think about the eggs and their grades.  Think about peaceful things and stay calm to protect your babies inside!  Good Luck and keep us posted.  The TWW sucks but seriously, try to remain as calm and stress free as possible!
