boderline anticardiolipin level

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you can help me. I am 31 and husband and I have unexplained infertility. I have mild endo and have had 6 failied IUI (3 with injections/3 without) and just underwent my first failed IVF/ICSI procedure. I just had Factor V immune testing done and so far (not all results are back) I have a boderline elevated level for anticardiolipin (level 11).  I was told I can start aspirin therapy for this, but since level is not high it might not be reason for infertility. Anyone have similar case? Any thoughts? I am hoping this is it and will work for us. I am doing a FET next month.

My story to sum up was we started trying in Nov, got a BFP at home in March, started bleeding by the time I had my dr appt to verify - no HCG registered.  6 weeks later - same thing. This time my HCG was 9 - evidence that there had been something -but - not pregnant.  Internal u/s showed both times basically nothing - 'consistent with rescent miscarriage' - which I'm not sure what that means.  I lost it and was hysterical in my dr's office with the 2nd one and was referred to a specialist.  Was told not to try for at least three months to get testing done and results in, and to let my body kind of even out...  Test results showed the blood issue and I was told to start taking baby aspirin - started this in Aug - got pregnant during the Oct cycle.  I was also told to take prometrium also (progeterone) as low progesterone levels is often the cause of early miscarriages.  With the prometrium I was supposed to take it starting when I ovulated until I was 12 weeks pregnant or I got my period.  I did that with the aspirin and finally asked some one at my clinic about the aspirin and was told that no - I probably would want to take that every day for the rest of my life...  I was surprised at that and asked - that's when they told me about the blood issue.  I've lived my life for the first 32 years with no issues - donating blood all the time.  It was about a year from when we started trying, to go through the two miscarriages and fertility testing to when I got pregnant - am still pregnant now and due in July.

With the miscarriages- I think the egg would get fertalized, but not implant - or would implant but the blood wasn't able to flow to it from me (b/c my blood previously was too thick).  All it's taken is baby aspirin to make the difference for me.  A friend of a friend has a similar story- no success - started baby aspirin and bingo - healthy baby.  I wish you the same success!

Diane1003, Thanks for respond to this post. My doc said to start baby aspirin for our FET. I have to start 2 days after the transfer. But that is when implantation should take place. Why so late? When did you start aspirin therapy? HOw long did you try before finding out about your issue and taking aspirin? I never got pregnant, so no miscarriage. They say blood disorders usually make you miscarry. I think my issue is implantation is never taking place. So frustrating that they don't know what is wrong.  Good luck to you! I am so glad to hear a success!

I can't speak to anticardiolipin - but I can speak to aspirin.  After two miscarriages and much testing - they found I have a blood issue. The dr's office gave it a chromosome name but said it's not a mutation...?  The explination never really did make sense - c677t is what I was told where the problem is.  The treatment is to take baby aspirin.  I am now 32 weeks and a few days pregnant.  I was put on prometrium for the first trimester as a precaution.  Good luck!!!
