reversal after over 8 years and it was successful. We've been trying for 2 years with a few positive pregnancy tests and then a heavier than normal late period. My doctor said that we are most likely getting pregnant and experiencing what she called "spontanious abortions
". This term I found absolutely horrifying but atleast she decided to do some more testing. All of my tests came back normal, but my husbands semen analysis tested positive for antibodies. My problem is that she told us we could still get pregnant naturally but that she would refer us to a fertility specialist. What I don't understand is how these antibodies work exactly? I've read all the info I could find online but I'm still not sure. Can these antibodies only affect part of the sperm? I'll give a little run down of his test results and hopefully you can help me understand and let me know if we truly do have a chance of concieving naturally. We can't get into the fertility clinic for 10 months to a year so I wiould really like to know if there's anything we can do to help our odds.
for volume, concentration, count, and pH all tests were in the higher range of normal his count specifically was 331.8 when normal was considered anything >80.
for motility, progressivity, aggregation, and vitality, again all tests but motility were at the higher range of normal. His motility is at 48% which we were told was still pretty good.
defects 68, cytoplasmic droplets 4, midpiece defects 51, tail defects 7, and immature sperm 4.
positive test for antibodies IgG tail/tip, igM midpiece.
Now is it possible that she said we could still concieve (conceive) naturally because he still has 15% normal forms? And does normal mean that those are unaffected by the antibodies? Is there anything we can do to help reduce the amount of defects?
Thank you so much for listening and I really hope you can help us out. My doctor doesn't really explain things very well and when I found out it would be almost a year until we saw the specialist I was going crazy. We've already been trying for 2 years and we had to wait 3 years before we could afford the reversal in the first place so we're starting to get a little anxious.
Hope to hear from you soon.
