my surgery is on the 6th of march to remove my 3.5 complex cyst. doctor said they might take out the whole right ovary. i have two questions
1. if they remove part of that ovary, can that same ovary still produce healthy eggs? or having an unhealthy pregnancy may occur?
2. after a surgery like this, i know your period might not be regular, and you still have a good chance of getting pregnant because of your other ovary, but less chance. how and when can i start trying to conceive AND HOW CAN I KNOW WHEN I AM OVULATING IF MY PERIODS WONT BE REGULAR.
i am 26 and i just wanna get pregnnat without all this headache like we all do . what and when is the easiest to try after a cyst removal which is a laprascopy.
3. does this surgery give you more of a chance to miscarry your first pregnancy?
I realize this might not be the best time to tell you this, but I would get a second opinion if they are telling you they might have to remove ovary. I had this done when I was 19 and I regret it now because I just have one ovary. If I would have known better I would have asked for 2nd opinion.
cysts on my remaining ovary. One was surgically removed and the other one went away on it's own. I'm really upset about having gone thru surgery on the other cysts I have. If I would ahve been patient, they would have gone away on their own.
7) Your periods will be normal after one ovary is removed. The remaining ovary just takes over and produces follicles / eggs monthly and you'll get a monthly menses.
8) Better to lose an ovary than tube in my opion. Cuz if you ovulate on the side that you're missing tube, you're just shooting blanks and your chance of conceiving is reduced. Having one ovary does not have this type of impact, because it will produce eggs/follicles each month. You're just in trouble it the tube linked with good ovary goes bad.
9) Also the surgery is pretty serious. You'll get like a c-section type of incision and it will take a while to feel 100% again!!! Good luck with your situation. You should be fine, but try to avoid getting your ovary removed if you can. Have you waited to see if it will go away on it's own?
hi. thank you for your advice. my cyst is complex and its in the middle of my ovary. the size of a golfball and the dr. said it looks like it might have been there for longer than a year. so she wants to do surgery. and she said she will try to avoid taking out the ovary. even though tests show its not cancerous, the only way to know for sure is during surgery or something. and she said if they have to remove it, they will. depends on how it looks. i think its too late for me to get a second opinion now.
I had the same thing happen a cyst on my righttube and they removed tube and ovary it is possible to still get pregnant with one tube. Mine too was the size of a golf ball and had been there for over a year. My cycle was still regular after the surgery. I had an excellent surgeon, but just like yours he wouldn't be sure until he was actually in and once in he was able to leave my left tube and ovary in tack.
