confused

Hi My name is Alana i'm 21 years old and i'm very confuse. i had a positive home pregnancy test. when i went to my ob the blood work was negative i havent got my period since august 23 and my doctor start me on provera and i still havent start my period i still feel pregnant i'm tired my breast are large and hurting today she start me on the third round. but she still hasn't done an ultrasound or anything i'm afraid cause i want to know whats going and if i'm pregnant and i'm also concerned that my baby will have abnormalities, please if any doctor or anyone that knows read this please give me your advice i don't know if i should take it the 3 round or go to another doctor and get an ultrasound before taking it.

It could have been a chemical pregnancy, where the fertilized egg starts to implant, but cannot attach properly. That's actually fairly common, and could explain why you got a positive test at home and then a few days later a negative blood test.

The other thing to consider is whether the blood test was a qualitative or quantitative test.  The qualitative test will only be positive over a certain level, while the quantitative test will tell you exactly what your levels are, whether you're pregnant or not (anything over 5 is considered pregnant). So maybe ask your doctor about that.

As for your tender breasts, that could actually be caused by the provera, but just in case, you might want to set up another blood test with your doctor before starting the third round. Or even just try another home pregnancy test.
