conufused if it's spotting or period. HELP!

For the past month i've been going through an issue with me having the possibility of pregnancy.
I had unprotected sex just 12 days ago. My boyfriend said to me he didn't bust, but thiers always a possibilty.
I've been feeling very exhausted for the past couple of days. & really never in the mood for anything. I'll crave certain food, cook it...but for some reason that craving goes away and im stuck with food i don't want to eat anymore.(STRESS?)
well just yesterday i had to go weewee and as i wiped myself i noticed light blood. First thing that came to mind was "spotting?" It went away. Then later i had to use the bathroom again and i had it again. I don't know if it was my period.....(?) or if it's the spotting that lasts for 2 days.
My period should not be here so early. The due date was next week.
I decided to put a pad on so that just incase the blood got heavier. It really hasn't, but it's continued. Should I wait it out and see how long i have this bleeding going on? & at the end of this month would you recomend me to take a HPT? Or can i take one now? Also, i would like a better understand of spotting. & how would i know if it's my actual PERIOD?

Claudia - I realize you came here for help but you also came to the IVF forum where many of us are struggling with infertility.  We WANT to be pregnant and can't.  I am not judging you by any means but if I may gently say so, I would suggest if you do not want a child to use better protection other than a condom.   Here is some information I found for you but the best thing to do is to take a home pregnancy test or see your OB-BYN for help,

How can I tell the difference between an early period and implantation bleeding?

I would suspect implantation bleeding if it occurs a bit earlier than expected, if it were scanty, spotty, pinkish and not red and heavy like a period, and does not follow the normal pattern of a period (light to heavy to light).

The BBT should remain elevated and not decline to preovulatory levels.

There is often the feeling that it is a period with light cramps and bloating, but the bleeding is shorter, lighter and just not normal.

If a woman is usually regular, and now all of a sudden develops this type of early spotting, and of course is "at risk" for a pregnancy, I would strongly suspect conception
