. I was wondering what kind? I tested positive for antiphospholipid antibodies and haven't gotten any info from anyone on this and what it means for me and fertility.
. I tested positive for that as well, but have had two children (in my 20s) and miscarried one (in my 40s). I believe my mc was due to my age, though. But I've still been trying to get more infor on the antibodies. Treatment includes taking 1 baby aspirin
a day or heparin injections (rx needed). I don't know however, in what phase of the fetal development this occurs (I would like to know that). Also I know it's hormonal. Have you been pregnant and this is how they found out when they did the OB panel? Did you test positive for syphillis (syphilis), but not really have it? I think that has something to do with it.
Thanks for the info. I read about the baby asprin, so I started taking it on my own. My doctor didn't even call me with the results, I work at the hospital and can see my results. I freaked out and called the office, but my doc wasn't in, another doc said it isn't anything to worry about. Didn't make me feel any better. I haven't tested positive for anything else. The lab they drew was a cardiolipin and the IgG part was normal (negative) and the IgM was hight (positive) so I am so so confused, but I will talk to with my doc tomorrow and let you know what she says :)
I'm in the UK so I don't think our testing is quite as detailed as yours but I had an elevated level of anticardiolipin antibodies - 18 I was told a normal level was under 13 but these levels have episodic peaks and troughs, so a low reading now wouldn't really mean anything as I have a recorded high reading.....if this makes sense. This was was picked up when pregnant with my last daughter now 2 1/2 years old. I was about 17 weeks preg when they found out. I have older children from a previous relationship and my pregnancies were fine with them. I was told it meant I was at higher risk of a blood clot and had to take precautions if going on a plane etc. I take 75mg of aspirin a day, and did throughout my pregnancy- my preg was fine. I have since had a missed m/c nut not related to the antibody thing, blighted ovum I think.
I know Deanne11 has a similar thing but I don't think it's the same thing as mine.
Thank you!! That is very comforting :) My level was 17. So pretty close to yours. It is good to know that you where able to still have a baby :) Thank you so much for the info. :)
I have something called prothombin mutation....otherwise known as Factor II....My dr hasn't been much help...she basically just says we'll deal with it once you are pregnant again...but I lost the first 2 so early....I feel like I should do something on my own....
So with advice of ladies here...I did start a low dose aspirin and altered my diet....more fruits and veggies.
I had a healthy dd 2 yrs ago....no problems conceiving or through the pregnancy or in birth....the only thing different then was I had been a vegetarian for almost 9 yrs....
So I'm just trying to deal with it on my own and once I get the BFP....drs better step up to the plate....
