differences between the gonal-f rff pen and menopur

first time i went for fertility treatment i became pregnant with menopur. this time my doctor suggested me to go with the gonal-f rff pen. I was wondering what the differences are, because i want to become pregnant asap! i don't want to start trying out other things when i know already what's good for me. do you think it will work as good?

Robors- your explanation really helped understand because my dr mentioned doing clomid and menopur next cycle and I was wondering why i wouldn't just do menopur by itself given that clomid gave me thin lining but i guess it's because menopur doesn't stimulate the follies just helps them grow once they are stimulated.... hmmmm. such a bummer i don't respond to follistim. clomid is a drag... it gave me cysts too.

Menopur is actually a natural FSH and LH (comes from the urine of menopausal nuns  - this is what dr told me) and gonal  F and Follistim are FSH only and are not natural - it is made from synthetic FSH. I think most women do fine on the synthetic except for me. For some reason I am not compatible with that type of FSH. I was on follistim for my last IUI and although i had lots of follies - they never got bigger than a 6 or 8mm. Dr switched me to menapur 5 days before IUI and i got 2 nice size follies on my left (had i been on it earlier maybe i would have done better? anyway - IUI didn't work:( ) Perhaps your  DR is prescribing gonal F because i think it might be a bit cheaper and the pens are definitely easier then all the mixing you have to do with menopur. If you feel uncomfortable taking gonal F definitely ask your dr about it. good luck!!!

when i did IUI, i just did gonal F.
produced 3 good follies, but BFN
this last cycle was IVF and i used gonal F in the morning and at night, as well as menopur at night and it resulted in a BFP (4w2d pregnant)

Thanks for your answer! did you have to use both at once? or did you try them in two different cycles, and both worked? Just nervous that this should work for me first time, just as the menopur worked first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHOOPS, typo...
menopur is a combinationof follitism and lutenizing hormone (not lupron-which is another common drug many of us tool)
