does anyone know what happens if you O before the trigger?

I went to my RE today and my biggest follie is only 16 so my RE told me to take another dose of Follistim tonight, trigger late tomorrow night, and my IUI is scheduled for Monday morning. It may not even be possible, but what happens to the other follies if I O before the trigger? If I O first then trigger, will my smaller follies still release?

I think your RE times the trigger depending on where you are in your cycle and how big your follies are.  Are you using OPK at all?  This would tell you if you happen to surge before trigger.  My last cycle when I got +OPK, my RE triggered the same day and IUI in 24 hrs.  This round, I did not surge before trigger and it was scheduled like yours, within 36 hrs.  I've read that after the trigger, you are expected to ovulate 36-40 hrs.

Thanks Esmie. What you wrote makes sense. I have been using the CBE monitor. I did not think that the monitor would give me a PEAK reading when it detected an LH surge. Good luck to you as well. have a good weekend.

yes, use an OPK--it is indeed possible to ovulate before the trigger--it happened to me
