e2 and number of follicles?

I have been taking 75 iu of follistim for the the past five days and I just got the results of my first blood and ultrasound. I have 10 small follicles on my left ovary and 5 to 10 on my right ovary. My e2 is only 58. My RE is upping my dose to 100iu for two days and then I'll go back in for more tests. Does this sound right? It seems like a lot of (small) follicles for such a low e2. This is for IUI, not IVF. Does it seem like too many small follicles at this point?

This is my first cycle, so I'm mostly clueless! Thanks for any help you can give me!

I had a similar experience this cycle.  For me I was taking gonal f alternating doses of 75iu and 37.5iu.  When I went in for an ultrasound they also saw many little follicles - around 10 on each side and none of them measuring above 10.  They had me get blood work and my estradiol level was 96 (I read that this level should be around 200-300 per mature follicle). They had me take 37.5iu for a few days in a row until I went back for another ultrasound. When I went back there were two on my right side that jumped ahead of the others which is what they wanted to see.  

I think by you taking the 100iu the follicles will get an extra boost and hopefully you have a few that get ahead of the others.  I know my doctor was worried that they many would grow so that is why he had me take the lower dose.  Also, this is my second cycle so my RE has knowledge about me now.  Since it's your first cycle your RE is still trying to see how things work with you and such.  I hope everything goes well!

I think everything sounds okay for you, this is my 3rd IUI but first taking 75iu follistim. Your follies will grow 1-4mm's a day so there is still time for them to mature. A mature follie is anything 18 and over and that is when your E2 will be higher.

I don't think all of those follies will mature.  Every cycle has a bunch of small ones and then during a typical cycle one or two will become the front runners... since you are on meds, you will likely have more than one, but I don't think they will all mature at the same rate.

I just got my results from this morning and my e2 is up to 172. I have one follicle on the right at 14.5 and one on the left at 12.8. I'm very excited. Two more days of 100iu and then hopefully I'll get to trigger on Thursday!!

That is awesome!!  By Thursday they should be ready.  They will grow around 2mm a day.  Good luck to you!  Looks like we will be in the tww together.  I am getting my IUI tomorrow.

Hope your IUI went well!! I'm really hoping they say I can trigger tomorrow night. I'm getting anxious! Since this is my first cycle, it's also my first time using Ovidrel. Have you had any side effects from the trigger shot?

I never had any side effects from the trigger. It will turn a HPT very positive though! I peed on one a few times back and it was so neat  to see a BFP (even though I knew it was the trigger :) Good luck!!

Hey there!  My IUI went really well.  DH had 78 million so hopefully they are attacking the eggs.  As far as the trigger goes I haven't really experienced any side effects.  This morning I had some major ovulation pains so I know it was definately doing its job.  Did you have an appt today?  Do you know if you will be doing your trigger soon?

I had blood and ultrasound this morning and everything is looking good! My e2 is 400 and my follicles are 18.7mm and 15.6mm. I received the call telling me to trigger tonight and I'll be having one IUI tomorrow morning and one Saturday morning. I feel like I've been waiting for this forever - so I hope it works! Please let me know how things are going for you!
